Tangent mapping is it worth it?

Would anyone mind showing me (like two comparison screenshots) the difference it makes in game to have a ship with tangent mapping versus not going through the trouble? If I'm not using the right terms let me know and I'll try to communicate with you what I mean. Thanks in advance for any reply.

I can only tell you that we didn't use a tangent map on our first Rebellion model and that turned out very, very, very badly. :P
