you can only update it through impulse, it should directly patch the game so you don't need to find the patch

and how does it work with sins? for example on gamerhell there is a 1.05 patch, but after my impulse update the version is 1.191. are those two versions compatible?

1.191 (trinity) <-> 1.05 sins, are those two verisons compatible? is there a download link for the 1.191? or is this also only availablee over the fucking impulse?

No they are not compatible.

There is no download link for any patch past 1.05. Its all done through Impulse which always patches your game to the most recent version.

Sounds like your friend needs to buy the game. Then he can update.

he bought the game, but he is no fan of any portals like steam and impulse, which is nothing more like an online drm. i dont like those platforms too, but i was so dumb and registered my game :-(

hmm, relice-net (company of heroes for example) at least provides you the downloaded files and not like impulse which downloads the files and pathes the game in one run.

i liked sins very much coz of the none-existing drm stuff, but impulse is the worst kind of drm. there is no diff between secue-rom and the other online drms, but a community network sounds much better but is exactly the same.

sadly its becoming the wave of the future, more and more games are going to these systems as a way to combat piracy, flipside is that at least with Impulse, is that it has a minimal footprint on your computer, is only needed to update your game (you can remove it afterwards) and only operates when you tell it to unlike Steam

Patches and updates are available only on Impulse to ensure users who have purchased the game get access.  As the other poster said, your "friend" can update via Impulse and uninstall afterwards if they wish.  On the same note, Impulse isn't required to run to play the game, or be left on at all aside from updating.

I have the problem of my desktop computer not able to go online at all.

right now im on my laptop which manages sins (a miracle seeing it has a 32 MB video card) but lags on large battle or medeum battles with mods.  Is there a manual way to update sins using copy pase and a flash drive.

I have tried to do this before but it did not work, I am using trinity v1.011 my laptop is 32 bit and desktop is 64 (another big reason to update on the desktop.  i directly copied the whole sins program folder, is there anything missing

thank you in advance (also sorry if this is a bump)

Opps double post

I think that the updates write the version to the registry. You might be out of luck.

You should look into that. Whats the problem there?

the total lack of a wireless card, or wired internet I tried to link my desktop and lapotp with a cat5 cable but the connection has limited to no connection no matter what I do, allthough i do have the cables and could get internet if i could get the computers to connect.

Also sins makes all my planets transparent is there a way to fix that (on my laptop), im thinking its a vid card issue

There's Impulse Anywhere, that will let you download the game to a flash drive or something and then install it on another computer. I'm not completely sure how it works, as I've never had to use it, but it should allow you to put it on your desktop. Do a search of the forums, you should be able to find some posts pretty easily that go into more detail about how to use it.

I know this was an issue with certain mods after the last update. Maybe when you updated those files weren't changed for some reason.

i am not using mods when the planets are transparent, also i have a 4 gig flash drive which unless you only download the patch and reinstall it to sins it wont hold it, but i will look into it more.

I don't think the patches are very large.  I can't imagine that the patch wouldn't fit onto a 4 GB stick.

the patch yes, the game maby

the game would fit as well, especially archived

ok, it reads as 4.?? gigs on windows uninstall, that was what i was going off of ...

any ideas on if the trinity download on impulse site is prepatched?

i got it and downloaded it AND...................

it wont work, ill try more if i know it will be patched when i use it though

yes, that is the idea behind the Archive arrrangement, you can get the lastest version of the game even though your main computer is offline

though buying an 8 gig shouldn't be that expensive

anything you download off impulse is patched to the latest version.

archive arrangement?, tell me more, can you transfer an archive?

yeah, from what I understand on Impulse you can archive the game on the computer that has Impulse and is connected to the internet, put the archive and impulse on the flash drive, then move the programs over to the other computer, install impulse (you don't need the internet) and then use the archive option to open up the game and get it to work

awesome, haveing the game allready installed wouldnt ruin the process right?

you know where there are specific tutorials?

I think there are some somewhere on these forums
