Zen i must say you are one of the best 2v2rs around.

minions are strong 2v2. That's all there is to it.

I also like how "Tourney Rules" have sort of become the new 2v2 standard. It makes for a little more lively gameplay ^^;

I promise, we'll have another one.  You will get to play in the next tourney -  I predict we will have > 100 as a prize there as well... and I know things...

I actually think our rules will get better next time around.  Credit (and failure) goes to hedgie this time around.  He made pretty much all of the recommendations for the character selections and most followed him like sheep (including yours truly).  I think it will be quite clear that there was a pretty strong team combo left in the mix based on what everyone plays.  But if we see a wide variety of teams, then hedgie did his job perfectly.   :)

I'm surprised the Oak play I've seen from competition teams has been strict assassin, especially paired with DGs who can't push towers very hard.  It will be interesting to see if anyone plays Oak teams in round 2.

And the chart is like democracy, it's not quite perfect but it's better than most alternatives.

oak's only "partners" are DA & Reg, it would be tough going with minion oak resulting in 2 squishies.  Plus minion oak is neutered by TB, Occ, Qot etc.

I wish Oak/TB was OK for the tourney, lol. I LOVE pent with TB. Wait for the pent.....unload!

The next tournament should be 4vs4 with the rules I laid out months ago (but with Oc and DA included). I bet it would be better to do 4vs4 since the 2vs2 teams already established can double up and be ready to go on short notice without leaving players separated from preferred teammates. (which is what will happen if you do 3vs3)

You must take 2 assassins and 2 generals, no duplicates

1 of Oak Ereb UB

2 of Rook, TB, Sedna, Oc

1 of QoT, Reg, DA

Map is Zik

You should watch this replay jongalt...it's reg and oak versus beast and QoT. There's no glaringly huge errors by the QoT but she does not neuter the minion oak in any way.

No Oak with Shield 3 is squishy but I take your point.  A straight minion build has to run more than fight, which is why you carry locks.

You don't play minions against strong AOE, but against Reg, DA, Sedna, etc. it's pretty fierce.

YMMV

I think this is a great idea LO. 2 on 2 is nice because most people play with one other person regularly, but I think the game is really designed for 3 on 3+. I think that the DG balance you have there is great too.

(And where is that Super-Secret QoT build? Still waiting...

4v4 while it sounds like a ton of fun, would be challenging since a number of players already have connection/bandwidth issues.

that's a good point as well ke5tel - lock & run

Pfizzy i'll check it out.  Usually leveled up ground spikes destroy spirits, perhaps it was negated by HoB.

err.. watched the replay Pfizzy.  There were some GLARING errors by the qot / beast team lol.  Qot had no armor pieces by lvl 9-10, so anything and everything was able to walk all over her.  Beast had no speed items to actually catch the other team.  Beast turned around and popped a sigil to fight a reg right in front of reg's valor flag WITH an oak he saw off to the side just watching.... blew a sigil and went back to base for no real reason.  WTS Armor / speed!

Anyway, w2g peter / zen.
