i dont say he should ad it in the mod i only say that the scimitar could perhabs do real damage to a borg cube (i let the cloaking out of talking because the borg whould know where there are nothing is perfect the would find them ^^) but back to topic awesome mod i cant wait for the new version for diplomacy ^^ like a child on chrismas ^^

in the last series and movie of startrek they have 100% destoryed the full (history) of the star trek universe yeah its a pity ToS and TNG and DS9 in my mind went well then BANG idiots went nuts with the scripts

Unfortunately, there hasn't been any word at all of continuing Sins. I really hope they do. Using 64bit, they could do so much more and have it run way better during the late game.

I imagine with the sales figures that has been quoted, there will be a SINS 2 at some point in the future.  Probably in a year or two.

 

 

At which point I'll have to upgrade my system(s) in order to handle it :grin: .

Trust me - The Last Stand will be as good as or better than anything official.  It also adds the Xin as a playable faction, who are the race pursuing the Visari.

In fairness, that was caused by Voyager and Enterprise. Star Trek XI was a breath of fresh air, a lot of fun and didn't take itself too seriously. Which explains why it is the most commercially successful Star Trek film ever, and it's success will hopefully guarantee that the franchise will continue for many more years to come.

Trek XI is good because its unique (from a point of view). Exactly as you said they didnt take it too seriously. They didnt give a damn if the continuity got screwed up, because it was intended to be a reboot. Old Spock, and references to TNG that were thrown in just to please the old school fans who were NOT the target audience. I can accept the flaws in that movie, because it was indeed a good movie. However being unique it is in its own universe from my point of view. Almost exactly how the re-imagined Galactica series is unique.

Though we all hope there is a Sins 2 dont count on it in the near future. Sins novelty still hasnt worn off just yet. Galactic Civ 3 will be more than likely be made before Sins 2. Ironclad wants to do more of their own IP first. Like Elemental. Give it time, and for the technology to improve before we dive into sins 2. Perhaps they will be able to impliment what they truly intended to add to sins 1 like orbiting planets, moons, no phase lanes, animation support, dynamic ship movement by default. full 3d movement, and tactics. The unknown enemy, Most of which i can see not being beneficial in old school 32 bit tech, but 64 bit should be no problem.

Now to be the bearer of bad news.. I thought long, and hard about this. I need to step down from this project, and retire from modding. Jaylrpcs, and Darkshimmer will take over, and all of my work to date will be turned over to them. The reason/s are because first, and foremost i just plain do not have the free time to mod anymore. My interest in the project is seriously waning, and i just turned 46. I am getting way WAY too old for this crap lol. My life, job, and family must come first. The project deserves someone much more active, and that has more free time than i do.

I am not abandoning you guys altogether. I will still pop in from time to time to give advise, help the crew with problems, and i will still be active on the forums. However the free time to be an active modder is just not there anymore. This project needs active members, and all of you are suffering because of the lack of progress. I realized i havent actually built a model from the ground up in 3 years. The 0.5 upgrade hasnt been touched in almost a month. Then only in little bits, and pieces. There is stuff intended for the mod on my drives that is just gathering dust. I dont have the time to work on it.

To be brutally honest i didnt intend to "lead" this project when it first came up. My hope was that others would lead it, and i would just be in the background building ship meshes. However i also didnt want to see the mod to turn into "absurd trek". Like what all the ridiculous fan requests wanted it to be. It seems i became the "defacto" leader, and i went from just building models to building the entire mod. Just to keep the project from becoming a totally absurd fanboy project. For a long time i was the only one working on the project until Shimmer, Jay, and the rest of the crew came onboard. Now they know the direction the mod is going, and i can trust them to follow that direction. Jay has been pretty much carrying the burden for a while now. He has done an outstanding job so far. I think he will make a great project lead.

I know this is not what you all want to hear. No the mod is NOT dead. Nor do i want it to die just because i am stepping down from an active role. I will still be here. I just cant mod. I dont have the free time.

It is all on you now Jay, and Shimmer. Dont worry if the mod veers left. when it should veer right Ill just come in, and let you know its veering left ;) Now i gotta go to work in my RL job :/ Ill be back to check on you guys.

Though he will still be around, i would like to give my gratitude to Major Stress for pioneering this mod, one of the best mods i've played for Sins. Let us all now hope that the mod will continue on it's course to provide us all with fun-filled Star Trek entertainment!

Seriously, ?  We need to chat via phone or msn and exchange files etc. Its a shame that you feel like you need a break but , as always I know you will be back sooner or later. Get some rest, Speaking of Age I am about to hit 30 guess this is your early birthday present 8O . Rest assured we will all chug along and make a outstanding game , with your help from time to time of course , nudge.

I was just wondering if you can put the max ship slots to 4000, and max capital ship slots to 32. If you have any extra time on your hands if you can also put species 8472 in. :pout:

I'm strongly tempted to write you off as a Troll, but I feel good after 11 hours of sleep.

All of the game files are in plain text format. I don't know exactly where the files you need to edit are (or even if they are hardcoded) but you should be able to makes those changes for yourself with a minimum of effort. It's only fair to warn you that you *will* dump the game if you max that out due to the 2 GB limit.

As for Species 8472, let's just say I don't think there are any plans for them.

Fleet supply is easy to change yourself, its literally just changing a few lines in Notepad++. However the team are aware of the fleet supply levels, and I'm sure they will be working on it.

And if you take the time to read the thread (admittedly it will take you a little while), the Undine (8472) will not be featuring in the game for a variety of reasons, mainly being balance (people are complaining about the borg being overpowered- imagine a scout ship 50x stronger than the borg- there is no way that can be justified balance wise) and mainly because that one little scout ship is the only ship ever seen in the shows. That and because I guess we just don't want them in the Alpha Quadrant.

We are working on the balance and fleet supply as we speak, as to species 8472 , HELL NO , isnt going to happen, The ship line ups are set in STONE.  The only ships we will be adding that are not in the mod are the planetary defenders and the pirates other than that all ship slots are filled .  NO UBER SHIPS NEVER.  Also speaking of the fleet supply , When we release the next update to Soa2, in a month or so, We will also release a stackable mini mod, that will up the fleet cap counts and the frigate counts.

hey guys cloak again...i was playing an outdated version but i seem to hit a major snag i doubt even chief o'brien and geordie could troubleshoot;i cannot seem to update my game thru impulse.i went to their help pages and tried everything to get impulse back online and found that many other people are having the very same problem,and that stardock really has no solution to it.i was wondering if anyone knew of any way i could patch entrenchment to the proper lvl without having to go thru impulse?the stardock central program also isn't working...it's really annoying that stardock has done this as it has screwed a lot of people out of being able to patch their game.

Cloak, I'm afraid that forcing you to upgrade via impulse is Stardock's answer to piracy. Sure, you can still install the game on as many machines as you want, but you need to have a valid key to do so- meaning they get money. Unfortunately, that also means you need to get all your updates through impulse. I'd say try again tomorrow, and if that still doesn't work then uninstall impulse and reinstall it. I've found that it tends to update programs fine, but has hiccups when impulse itself needs and update.

nah done all that...uninstalled my anti virus software,my anti spyware,turned my firewall off...nothing works.and of course stardock has absolutely no intentions of actually resolving the issue.oh well...guess i am screwed.
