Which Mods are recommended?

Before I upgrade to the 1.04 patch, which Mods should I hurry up and download, to try out?  I don't know which are good, and a couple that I've tryed before wouldn't play.  I'd like to try one or two where the changes are readily visible. 

There seems to be so many, and so many in various states of completion, that I don't know which to pick.

try out this mod, its up and ready (I play it constantly) and we are already beginnning to make changes to be ready for 1.04 so we dont miss a beat, be warned though, pirates are tough and will get tougher next patch up.

Mad Scientist mod is Awesome. Defin. check it out! Distant stars is kickass too. Try my mini-dota style mod, its pretty fun for a little mod.

really, ryat, it is kinda soft, however, i am reworking their supply....with the new patch (the game patch) DS won't crash if you set pirates supply to 299

well I could not make them that powerful, otherwise the game would bog down to fighting pirates only, a well managed defense can handle them as it should be but you dont dare leave a small simple fleet with an underdeveloped starbase alone anymore, though I am looking forward to being able to hit the supply wall finally

why are you way back in patch 1.04?  a lot of good mods are for entrenchment and 1.17

I think he means 1.04 of the new entrenchment patch.

Also, make sure to copy your sins install before you upgrade to the latest 1.18 and 1.04 (ent) patches. You can still run the copy independantly so you can continue to run all the great mods out there.

and I will be updating my mods updater, so that it will be able to update mods from earlier VERSIONED mods folder versions ie sins 1.15,1.16 & 1.17 entrenchment 1.01,1.02 & 1.03 to the NEW versions ie sins 1.18/entrenchment 1.04

try out Distant Stars (forum thread posted in first reply) The capital ships are based on RealCapitalShips mod though we did modify it a bit

the mod just changed the cap ship stats. Go to your gameinfo folder and open the *.entity file for any of the capital ships. You can adjust their armor, anti-matter, weapons damage etc from there using notepad.

I could be biased and plug SoA2, but im gonna say just try them all SoaGE is good, reqium (spelling) is good, even the Homeworld mod is good. So are the graphic, and stat enhancement mods are good. This is one of the few games that has a thriving mod community. Take advantage of it.

A shameless plug for me too, I am partial to the ones I work on, but try them all!  Major Stress is right, the community here is awesome.

Here are my suggestions:

SoA2, SoaGE, Requiem, Sins of the 13th Tribe, Distant Stars, and of course my baby, 7 DEADLY SINS.
