Uploaded Homeworld Entrenchment 1.03. Mod is for Sins of a Solar Empire Entrenchment 1.03 as the name suggests. This is still a work in progress, but is playable now. If you find any bugs please let me know. This mod has Kushan in Tech slot, Taiidan in Vasari slot and Kadesh in Advent slot. You start with a mothership but if you lose it, no more. Will add buildable motherships  and other things in the future.

Ive been doing a little bit here and there with this mod myself. Not to usurp it. What i have been doing has been for my own personal use so far. Like cleaning up the relic models. Re-UV mapping them, and adding the proper team/stripe color textures directly from the original lif textures. I would show some screenshots but 1.04 broke all the mods.

One suggestion i should make is to NOT increase the size of the textures. Stretching a 256x256 res texture to 512x512 just distorts it, and makes things worse. Plus it adds to the memory taken up to load them which IMO is a waste. Leave them the original resolution. They are fine as they are. If you want higher res you will have to create your own textures.

I can offer you what i have done so far. I just have the kushan support frig, attack bomber and carrier done. Carrier still needs some work. I am having a hard time re-mapping that one. Lots of mesh errors, and texture gaps. Other ships including the mothership have similar mesh/texture errors. The mothership is in terrible shape (for use in sins). The average person prolly wont notice the mesh errors but i do :p

I am also importing some HW2 stuff, but i wont release them because i dont want any nice cease, and desist letters from relic ;) I will post shots tho when i can.

This is great stuff wraith.  I remember when Homeworld came out, I was actually someone who bought it before they released the game of the year edition :grin: .  Heck, I still have my games and all of the instruction manuals.

One quick question, is Cataclysm available for use in this mod?  I simply ask, because the turanic raiders would be the perfect faction for the Pirates (I know they were in the original game, but Cataclysm also has their pirate base and I thought that could help out).

You also said that you are the only one working on this, so if you need another spotter, I am here for you.  I am good at working the string and entity files for you, just can't model at all (though I am trying to learn).

AHHH, so does anyone else has that weird thing with the textures i have! It works fine, but the whole ship is painted into the color you choose at the start. I mean you can see the texture but it overgloes the team color! Could someone help me, or tell me whats wrong?

I think thats team colors or something just turn it off in options when mod is active.

wraith i there any chanch of making home worlder mod for Mods-Entrenchment v1.041 im a big  fan of sins and got homeworld when it first came out its a great game or is harrops tool able to convert hw1.3 to Entrenchment v1.041

i thought hw mod would be a great mod for sins but didnt know someone made it found word of your hw mod on youtube then found your first hw 1.1 mod trying 1.3 now dont know if it will work cuss i have sins1.181 and Entrenchment v1.041 i know modding is vary hard and takes alot of your time but im hoping it will come out for Entrenchment v1.041 i have not yet found a ver of this mod that works with the ver of sins i have yet,,sins 1.181 and Entrenchment v1.041 the work you have done with this mod is great so far i have only see the video and some pic real nice job wraith

pinball if you extract the mod to the mods-entrenchment v1.03 folder then run the mod updater on the mods-entrenchment v1.03 folder the resulting mod could run in 1.041, if it minidumps then you will also need to run the manifest maker on the mod in the mods-entrenchment v1.041 folder to add the 9 new entity files to the entity.manifest

i did the update and the first time it crash with ces core map then i play it on a diffent map and it work find nice work on hw mod  ships look great it dose work wih Mods-Entrenchment v1.041 but some players dont know how to convert it i have converted it but it is his mod and i have not ask him if i can upload ver hw ver Entrenchment v1.041 for him or can supply support for any bugs players find i would be happy to give him converted file back but it is so big i can not email him it my email will do 25mb at a time and ive never upload to a file server before ,,,ps this is a great mod you must try it out http://www.filefront.com/14101001/Homeworld_ENT_1.03.zip// 1 more thing there is a explostion mod that wood be great put with this one,,and  how do you import ship models into your mod maker cuss i have been trying to all of them so far wont take in a mesh file what file converter do you use to import ship.mesh files i have tryed Autodesk_3dsmax_2010,XSI 6.01 Mod Tool,Autodesk Toxik 2010,MatchMover2010,Maya2010,Softimage_Mod_Tool_7.5 all are great cad apps but none can import a mesh file or i might be doing something wroug i have try all open files ext and all import ext for sins ship.mesh files

The mod is broken, i tried to play it but the overview is messed up. i can't even build ships or command my ships. Plus sometimes when i start there are no motherships and other times i get 2. Any ideas on how to fix it?

You probably posted the solution alrighty, but I'm getting the minidump error messages along with many interface glitches such as most of the icons are missing and some interface graphics is messed up during gameplay when I start playing in-game.

I would be greatly appreciate any help. ^_^

the mod updater can update mods from earlier versions in the correct version folder(eg mods-entrenchment v1.03) to the current version WHILE copying the mod to the current version mod folder(eg mods-entrenchment v1.051), but it only adjusts the entity files and removes the 5 fx files from the mod that cause no planets,asteroids & ships issues.

Now that I have your updater, I an coming across this error message when I use it;

"found sins version :1.1.9.1:

 need sins version :1.1.8.0:"

Does it need updating?

you downloaded the OLD version for sins 1.18/1.181 which I had left up for those that do not want to update to current

the current version is the BOTTOM set of links for sins 1.191+e+d at filefactory and filefront

Ah, right, I've never updated a mod, because I don't really understand how to do it. I've looked around on this forum for information, but after 7 pages (and 93 to go) I've given up and decided to ask - the 'Search' button at the top is not working in my Firefox.

 

Anyway, so, to get this Homeworld mod working in the current version of Entrnechment (1.051), what exactly needs to be done? Are there any tutorials or posts with detailed information?

here is the instructions for the mod updater FROM the text file included in the latest version(under test)

first all the files in this archive NEED to be in the same directory(folder)

second the program was designed for updating mods from sins 1.15 AND later to the current sins, also entrenchment 1.01 and

later to the current entrenchment, also for the diplomacy and rebellion expansions after their release(hopeful)

NOW the actual instructions


0. run sins, entrenchment AND diploamcy(if you have them) to create the mod folders

1. open the folder where you extracted all the files

2. run 'harpos_sins_mod_updater.exe'

3. in the folders window that is visible find the folder that contains all the mods you want to update AND double left mouse

click on the folder which should open the folder so that you can see the folders that contain the mods that you use

4. now click on the button labeled '1. set source to copy from' the button label should change to the path that contains the

mods that you want to update , and a new folder browser will become visible and will default to the latest version folder for

the sins/expansion

5. click on the 'copy and update the entity files' button

the mod updater will now go and copy all the files in the source mods folder to the destination folder and update all the

entity files with the changes from the version of the source folder to the current version

6. when you have updated the first expansion then you can click on the 'reset the settings' button and then start on step 3

7. when you have updated all of the mod from all of the expansions then you can click on '4. exit' to close the program

and If you want to update an OLD mod to the current sins/entrenchment/diplomacy and do NOT have a Mods-v#.### for a vanilla

mod( the #.### is the sins version that the mod WAS RELEASED FOR) or Mods Entrecnchment-v#.### or Mods diplomacy-v#.### in

you mods folder location, then create a folder with the name WITH the version of sins/entrenchment/diplomacy that the mod was

FOR,

then extract the mod into the folder for the expansion version the mod was released for,
 then go to step 1 above

Then can someone who has the files upload it then? I'm interested in continuing it with HW2 races also. I managed in 2009 to get it to work with vanilla sins v 1.1somethingorother (they released a new one every damn week so i just gave up on that). I've got Trinity now and i think it would be cool to continue upon. add the homeworld weapon effects if possible too though doubtful.

I am making a mod with a pile of ADD-on races and HW was going to be 1st. I have a load of Hiigaran ships in SoaSE now and the music and 2 gigs of wav files to sort thru for effects.

Any assets or help would be awesome.

Oh nice! Yeah I'll be sure to stop in once in a while. Mainly after my exams which are in february. See if I can help somehow. I've done the text files and mesh files in the past due to having 3ds MAX free from the education discount. I'll see what I can do.
