Those are some cool music choices.

Already listed my top 5 but I'm not seeing a whole lot of activity on this post so I'm gonna give it a bump by listing honorable mentions since music is a hobby of mine (listening; not playing).

36 Crazyfists ("The Tide and It's Takers" is a great cd.  Alaska finally has a premiere group!)

Slipknot (Need I say more?)

Rise Against (Their early stuff was great)

Flogging Molly (Traditional Irish music with a punk kicker)

Dry Kill Logic (Paper Tiger kicks ass)

Brother Ali (His early stuff has unconventional beats similar to Atmosphere.)

All That Remains

Aesop Rock (More underground hip hop with abstract lyrics that make you think and deliver something different every time you listen)

Good choices.. i love progressive or classical rock as well. Especially Yes, but all bands you listed are great.

I've been having a hard time deciding which is better: Yes or King Crimson.

I'll ad Jethro Tull, Allman Brothers, Beach Boys, Jefferson Airplane/early Jefferson Starship, Cold Blood, ELP, Genesis, Cream, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, The Pretenders and Black Sabbath.

Really great additions, Infidel. Mahavishnu Orchestra in particular! May I add Return to Forever and the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

He's a one man band...nobody ever said it had to be a group!

Good ones, but early or later Return to Forever, or both?

nobody ever said it had to be a group!

The OP did.

...and Black Sabbath.

Skipped that (accidentally) in my initial list since Ozzy kept being the prince of DarkNess with a splendid "solo" carreer -- as a result, i must also add in honorable mentions for; Rainbow & Asia & Wings...

Semantics

Maybe.

He didn't list any individuals. (At least I don't think so. I'm not familiar with everyone he listed.)

I have another question for you all. What band do you like that you think should be way more popular and well known then they currently are? For me it's Freakhouse.

Greenday, Framing Hanely, Daft Punk, Queen...Fergie, Micheal Jackson (rip)...Lady Gaga, Linkin Park, Coldplay

and almost anything similar. my iPod is a mess. lol

The guys that should be famous are 3OH!3. They have a song on the radio but I think it's going to get whored out by moms.

I know about that, but i heard it on the radio two weeks ago with nothing cencored, but then a day later it blanked out "ho." :/

While I really enjoyed the first two lp's, my favorite is Romantic Warrior. About a year ago, I had the great pleasure of seeing a show during the 25th aniversary tour. Corea, Clarke, Dimeola and White were awesome!

Brian Auger's Oblivion Express.

Saw them in a bar many years ago. They were very hot. " Closer To It!" is one of  my alltime faves. I'll add Vinyl and Brand X. And the Greyboy Allstars.

With Alex Ligertwood? Which reminds me of Santana.
