Could use some expert help

I got back into Sins after 10 months away. Ive seen a lot changed and new stuff on here too.

I am trying to learn the modding again. Im not to bright when it comes to this part. Ive been reading and trying different programs like Notepad ++ and editplus, wordpad and all that stuff.

I tryed the Convertdata thing and still couldnt understand how to get it to work.

This is what I need help with:

1. Gameinfo files... when opened with notepad its not in the txt. its on like this

I cant read this. what can i do to fix this.

2. Forge... extracted with the winrar and program comes up with an error.

download harpos sins text binner program it can be found here in the forums or just google sins texte binner

You must download "Forge Tools" which will give you the text file equivalents.  What you are looking at is your computer's attempt to decrypt binary.

Listen to Volt_Cruelerz

D/L Forge Tools 3 (its on this site), and go into the game info. The text versions of the files are all there, as well as the Entrenchment text versions.

whiskey the forge tools reference files for entrenchment WILL CAUSE MINIDUMPS when used with the current version which is why I suggested my txt bin gui tool, if the reference files did not CAUSE crashes I would have suggested them

actually, that's useful to know. thanks, though I hadn't planned to use the entrenchment files

also, do you know if its possible to do neutral territory construction in sins 1.17?

DISREGARD THE COMMENT ON NEUTRAL TERRITORY CONSTRUCTION. I HAVE ALREADY LEARNED THAT IT IS UNLIKELY AT BEST TO DO THIS IN SINS 1.17
