Should pirates be able to jump straight to UNGW's to stage attacks?

I was thinking, pirate attacks, atm, usually start outside your empire and have to fight their way through your fortified front line planets to do any damage, and even then, its rare they go further than the first planet anyway

so, in keeping with a few ideas in other posts (namely, pirates become more cowardly, using more guerrilla tactics and maybe even running before winning all bounty) i was wondering if anyone would like pirates to be able to 'appear' in UCGW's within you empire (should there be any) and strike from there, either at trade routes, refineries, or fleets/structures themselves?

well i havent played with pirates in quite a long time, but if i remember correctly, they arent really trying to strategically attack you. theyr just out doing as much damage as theyv been paid to do. i mean, dont get me wrong, this would be a great upgrade for the pirates, make people take them more seriously, but idn. right now its not really useful. maybe in the pirate part of the 2nd expansion?

That really wouldn't work too well. Most uncolonizeables in your own territory end up with starbases for trade extension, and if pirates could spawn in them they'd definitely all have starbases.

I think the supply per raid should increase from the current limit of 300

thats what i meant

so perhaps we make a new kind of GW that cannot have an SB? magnetic clouds already do this i believe...

i mean, lets think outside the box, why not give pirates a way to disrupt phase jumping, and attack trade ships etc half way between GW's?

Because only Vasari have the technology for phase disruption, and pirates are just disgruntled TEC? The conflict is taking place in TEC space, after all. Ironclad isn't going to be making any changes that don't fit in with the backdrop :P

yes, as it stands now. why not make it that, lore wise, the pirates have some sort of mine that is deployed between worlds and disrupts phase engines, maybe an EMP or something

i mean, sure, the lore also says phase destabilisation (i.e. that defensive structure, i always forget the name) is a technology that is widely a mystery, but an engine that can take you from one planet to the next in a few seconds has to be something rather complex, and, therefore, easy to disrupt

Honestly, I would support any boost to the pirates' abilities or intelligence because it gives the player with the best economy a new weapon, making strategies (other than rushing) more practical.
