7 DEADLY SINS 2.5 - NEWS UPDATE

Updated information for 7DS 2.5

http://www.danmangames.com

Hi everyone,

My name is Chris Payne and I am the web developer for www.danmangames.com, my other role is also as composer for some exclusive new music for 7DS 2.5.

I am constantly in contact with Danman who is extremely busy with 2.5 of 7DS and I managed to get some exclusive information for you guys on the next version of 7DS.  Now please remember things are always subject to change as with anything of this size and scope, but the news is very good.

The below is a direct quote from Danman:

"It does not appear to be one file but several.  There are many things that changed in Entrenchment, and I am sure I must have missed something in the thousands of files.  Good new is, if you want to spread the word, is that I managed to get all the custom sounds, music, weapons, explosions, ship movement, and the Atlantians with the Amun-Ra TITAN ship working so far.  I am also replacing the TEC and ADVENT with the Colonial Fleet and the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica as an added bonus to the people for being patient.

This kills 2 birds with one stone.  Then the Vasari will be replaced with
the Kzer-Za once they are ready too."

Thank you all for being very patient, Danman has been extremely busy and so hasn't been writing in the forums as much as he would like but I can assure you work is moving at a very steady pace, and although i'm not going to give a deadline on when the mod will be released the wait WILL be worth it for 7DS fans :-)

Please keep an eye on http://www.danmangames.com as the website will be having many additions shortly, and I will be placing an official 2.5 updates section on the downloads page to keep you all easily informed on the latest news from Danman (And maybe some exclusive teasers shortly).

Regards

Christopher J. Payne (Composer, web programmer)

Sounds awesome, but can't you just add those new races as additional race?  Why do you have to replace the original races?  Maybe it's cuz of hard-coded limits or something but anyways really nice update!

Yeah, i dont like the sound of replacing races in a non total conversion mod. Danman stated at one point that he wanted to have the best factions from sci - fi in general and then pit them against each other ( or at least i remember that) and taking the TEC, Advent and Vasari away seems silly in light of that. If it is hardcode than fine, but still.

Thanks a mil for filling us in! I can only imagine the amount of hours it takes to make something like 7DS. I mean, a mod is hard enough, but getting all the parts to work as one is a much bigger kick to the pants.

For my 2cents on swapping out the normal races, I don't ever play them anymore. The other ones are way more interesting to me (and I still get my original SoaSE kicks off with the spinoff races (Dark, Unity, etc)) If the folks at 7DS wanted to tank the vanilla races, go for it. It's their show.

So, thanks for letting me gush. 7DS is why I'm still a big Sins fan, and why I go to the modding forum nearly every day!

I think that Salemon is right... Vanilla race was not more of any value when compare to the other races... but the steroid bosted vanilla race ( the TCA, the Dark, The Unity ) was strong enough for fight other races... in some way, Vanilla race don't dissappear, they evolve to become stronger !!!

Exactly!

I have recieved many mixed requests, both to kill off and keep the original races.  It does come down to hard code limits, and that the vanilla races are...vanilla.  They don't stand a chance against all the other races now.  The TCA, UNITY, and DARK will replace them, each tuned to be unique based on their racial traits.  7DS is about variety, and choosing a race that best fits a player's style is part of that.

Thank you all for being patient, and thank you Chris for updating the masses.
