Angels - A Waste Of Money!

Angels - A Waste Of Money!

Anyone know what the point with Angels are? Right now, they seem to only be a waste of money, an obstacle you need to get thru on the way to getting catapults/giants. 3600 gold is way too much for a unit that dont do any dmg and only flies around and gets shot down by towers all the time. Either make it so they stop and attack continuously, or do MASSIVE dmg on each flyby. They have by faaar the worst DPS in the game right now, usually they spawn, fly about abit, eat some tower flak, maybe make a flyby for 5 dmg then fly around some more and get shot down before flyby no.2 hits home.

All the other citadel troops seem to be great, except Angels.

Priests does some massive dmg, and heals you if your near them.

Catapults outrange all towers and does massive dmg as well.

Giants can tank like lvl 2-3 demigods and hit for 500 dmg each hit!

Come on stardock, do something about the angels upgrade as soon as you get the time pleeease!

I find them to be a useless and annoying bridge to catas

"Giants can tank like lvl 2-3 demigods and hit for 500 dmg each hit!"

Please tell me what players you're playing against that are level 2-3 by the time your citadel has ranked to 10 so I can easily win some games.

Think he means they're the equivalent of a level 2 or 3 demigod in their ability to tank. Not that they're used to fight level 2-3s =P

Do angels have any aura effects?  I haven't noticed them being particularly effective

Angels are vert nasty critters that I reall hate in certain situations and maps. They prevent the use of certain items which are turned off by any form of a Damage. Such as the Heart of Life. When their are angels in play, I always find it hard to use this item until they are all dead.

The point of the angels is not to add damage or anything, but to add distractions.

Thanks to the sometimes buggy acquisition logic of enemy demigods they will often attack the angels.  Since the angels are moving they'll miss (especially if they're a melee hero) and will then chase the angels, slashing harmlessly at air.

Add to it that angels themselves will bug out and be stranded on random parts of the map you get scouts and distracting useless creeps that chip away and otherwise annoy enemy Demigods scattered all over the place.

It's more useful than you think!

ok...finaly after a month of waiting i can write here...

so about angels...yes, they are not worth that cost...its fact

solutions? hm...mb double strangh or numbers (or both) (mb cuting cost but i think costs are balanced and not be changed for a long time or never)

but if we will look at all citadel upgrades, we will see what many of them are some sort useless...like 2nd+ upgrades for hp/damage for grunts and hp/damage for buildings and bonus exp and reduse death cooldawn...all this after first one are simply worthless

even if we look on this from 5v5 game it is still useless...its not comulate with each other but replaces each other...

catapults on building only worth if u play with 4-5+ fortresses...

finger of god...i dont know exectly what this s**t is doing but i think there are must be a nuk one weapon what can make realy big damage at final stages of the game (not a 500 damage...what is 500 damage whan u have 7k hp and reduce 50% of damage and crazy hpreg?...so i can say what it is worthless too)

so...what we must to buy at citadel on nowdays?:

-1st +hp/hpreg for buildings (must be for prevent early defence crush)

-1st +damage for towers (not realy must be, but not expensive and give some bonus)

1/2/3 gold income (if u play 3+ vs 3+ this upgrades have priority i think u understand what with them u can easly get access for 13-16k artifacts and have all what u need)

-1st +damage for grunts (1200 for +20%...can be usefull...imho...dont know exectly) (but sumary +65% for 12K+ gold...dont know...for me is too expansive)

-1st +hp for grunts (i think its not hard to buy)

-1st +exp (must buy fast=) ) (3 others - for what? when we have 6 WL we simply going to good item and catapults...if we are loosing, we simply havent money at all...)

-1st  -dc (not sure...mb can be ignored at all)

-prists (if u get 3rd WL u must buy it=) -angels can be ignored for a long time - catapultozaurs (buy if u can) -giants (u must have gold for them!!! =) )

-trebuchet and FoG can be ignored

so we can see what 50%+ of citadel upgrades are worthless and must be rebalanced...

They are pretty annoying if you are trying to use the Heart of life, that is probably their biggest benefit :P

So far everyone says that angels are an effective counter to the Heart of Life. I don't know if this makes a point about angels being useless or the Heart of Life being over useful.

Angels need to spawn in groups of 4, or at least 3. What you pay for is not what you get when it comes to the things.

They should make angels randomly pick up a grunt and throw them off the edge

Maybe they could have a 10% slow when they hit.

they're not USELESS.  they're just not useful enough to justify their cost, unless the whole point of them is to further delay access to catapults by costing double of what priests cost.

I agree completely with this statement!

Can normal towers zap angels?

I really thing if they applied a debuff (a decent debuff) when they hit, they'd be worth getting.

I'd take anything:
-Movement speed
+Cooldowns
-Health/Mana regen
+Received Dmg
-Armor
-Mana Drain

Hell, maybe even an interrupt.

Just would be cool to have a true utility grunt. The priests are 'utility' but due to minos and archers being nothing but fodder, they're pretty much the 'tank' and 'dmg dealer' of the early grunts.

Agree! A debuff on their seldom attack would make them at least semi-useful, and would make them unique as well!

Hell, it might even make them worth the cost! I especially like the -Movement speed idea, that would make them super-annoying for the opponent, "Must. Get. Rid. Of. NOW!" annoying, and since they fly away after the hit... LOL!!!

+1 karma!

They are too expensive and are bugged: many times i saw them do nothing, got trapped in a movement loop or just flying around, not attacking anyone.

Also Finger of God? WHAT THE F?! It costs a ton and it barely does anything to the enemy.

It does something o shi.....

I just buy it to hear "Forces of <side> have constructed a finger of god!"

angels are proberly the most useless and the most useful well if u have a reg then they become really handy most regs snipe  and when angels are attacking a dmemi it slows there hps  per each attack which means there further they run  they further snipe can go and the more dmg it can do

also they have alot off health which means they can stay alive a while  there annouying to kill and are tedious  without a aoehence stalling for time/ keeping them busy  angels are woodpeckers then peck at there target and piss them off  and there hard to kill

so  angels arn't completely useless but i do think priest are a major boost over them   i think priests and angles shoudl swap places and money for them

What exactly was the intent of Angels?  What are they 'supposed' to be good for?

Angels are pretty useless.  Sure they hit for a bit and add some damg soak, but otherwise, they CAN NOT change the flow of the game, unlike Priests, Cats, and Giants.  That in and of itself is a red flag.

As told to me before in beta they were where cata's were and 4-6 would be a serious threat.

EDIT: Think a combination of movement speed slow attack and movement speed buff aura would make them worth it as then your army can push easier due to faster units.
