Is Entrenchment worth it?

As I said above, is Entrenchment worth buying? I have the 7 Deadly Sins mod and I love it but until DANMAN upgrades it I have to use 1.05. Ive already decided that I wont upgrade normal sins but entrenchment sounds awesome and without it Im completly out of the loop and am unable to play multiplayer. Is it worth buying now or should I wait? Ive heard its amazing and that its just not worth the 10 dollars. I was hoping you guys could help with my decision.

In my personal opinion, Entrenchment is worth it.  I'm waiting on Danman to get his mod updated (I know it takes time), but I'm having fun playing Entrenchment in the mean time.

Unfortunately for you, I don't think you can play Entrenchment unless you upgrade vanilla Sins - someone correct me if I'm wrong.  Regardless, I believe Danman has stated that the next version of 7DS will only be for Entrenchment, so I would definately buy it then, if not before.

1) It is worth it

2) If you want both, copy your current folder (1.05) somewhere else so you can still play that version, then patch to 1.16 (soon to be 1.17) and install Entrenchment

You may need to do some tweaking of files under your profile in regards to the mods - I don't play them so it isn't an issue for me...

entrenchment is worth it just for the fact that lots more options are available to modders, which means people like danman and his team can do even more in 7ds than they ever could in vanilla sins, that fact alone should make it worth it :P, if you still want to play 7ds while waiting for it to be converted to entrenchment, you can simply copy your entire sins directory to another locations, then upgrade to 1.16 and entrenchment 1.02, and you will still have a 1.05 version that should work with 7ds...at least it does fo rme and many others :) (basicly creating 2 versions of sins on your pc)

but like i said, the extra options open to modders in entrenchment means they can do alot more than they ever could in vanilla, 7ds for exampl ecant really improve or add anything else in vanilla sins without causing a minidump or some other problem, whereas in entrenchment, certain hardcode limits are removed or changed, and that opens the doors for danman and his team aswell as the many other modders about can get even more creative again, another example is the DBS (dynamic battle system) mod you can have fighter physics for all ships, which just on its own some people have bought entrenchment for

10 bucks for hundreds of changes and improvements. More options for modding.. Hell Yes it is worth it.

For it's price it's definately worth it.. normal Sins games aren't as challenging without it.

Also, I think it's safe to say that most mods these days are shifting to Entrenchment-only (Requiem will only be developed for Entrenchment, for instance). I know other mods are also going the same way (SOGE, 7DS spring to mind).

Someone must be getting old - the "do it because it is cool" effect must be wearing off :D

from a strategy point of view, the non-entrenched defenses are hopeless against any moderately sized enemy fleet. A starbase is a cool new factor to add, and is great for warding off attackers. Except that some don't move, so human attackers can navigate right around it. hmm....

I played a game last night with guy who went TEC by mistake. His comment 1/2 way into the game was

"OMG - The starbases don't move!!!!" - He had only played with Vassari before... Guess he didn't notice what the OTHER players starbases did....

hahaha. poor guy^_^

And almost poor us - our econ guy had to fleet up to stop that side of the map falling. Luckily I had cleared my guy out (he left his HW and 1 roid to the AI) and was moving onto the next guy in my path...

speaking of which, how bout making a post just about funny sins stories that happened while playing? eg, there was one person who was about to kiill a vasari starbase, but just then all of his ships exploded, and the sb healed a lot of its health. It might be interesting...

After all the work and effort the Devs put into it? FOr just a measy $10? Definately yes!!! It is VERY WORTH IT!!!!!

after all, lets say you bought HomeWorld several years ago, ok?  And then Catacylsm comes out, and it was the same price as the first game, was it worth it?  Heck yes!!!

And now you buy SOASE, and you get Entrenchment, PLUS you get THE SECOND EXPANSION, PLUS YOU GET THE THIRD EXPANSION, for the same price as HomeWorld plus Cataclysm. NOW IS THAT A DEAL OR WHAT?  :)

Buy it, its a lot of fun, and it is very cheap by all measure considering what you are getting!

I can't really believe you are asking that question, would you buy WOW and ask if the money Blizzard wants for the expansion is worth it?  I dont think so.

So buy it and enjoy, its very cool, with lots of extras, and lots of new strategies. AND the second expansion pack is probably in work right now, which means release is probably only a little while away.  :)

Lots to look forward to.  :)

ffs I really wish I could get entrechment...can you guys at stardock please release a boxed version for like 15-20 bux cuz i can't get it on impulse since I can't get a credit card.  Is there a way for me to pay by cash?  I love impulse for updating stuff but for buying games it's a pain in the ass if you are to young or can't get a credit card.  In my case I'm to young since I'm 15.  Please make a boxed version or can I buy it via mail in cash.

I think i am going to buy entrenchment tonight due to all the positive things said about it. I also really like what the devs are doing with the defenses. They suck in vanilla to the point that i just tend to rush the ai as soon as possible despite the fact that i tend to like to be a defensive player, picking and choosing my fights. Thanks for helping me out everyone. IC needs to start paying commission.

Also, CRAIG SIGHTING!!!!!!11111!!!!!!!1 :D
