After v1.15 update SOSE won't load-Black Screen

Technical glitch with Update 1.15

 My game worked fine prior to the recent 1.15 update, running the 1.13 version of Sins vanilla (no Entrenchment). I just patched it through Impulse to v1.15 and it will not load the game. All I get is a black screen, no sound and the computer is locked up. I have the game downloaded through impulse ( as the original CD never ran) and don't want to download-install and re-install if that isn't the problem.

I wonder if it's related to either the new version of Sins or if the update to Impulse screwed it....hmmmm....

Anyone else having these issues??

Oh well...back to slaughtering muties on F3.

You will need to manually remove the game folder, and run the fix below before you'll be able to re-install.

Go to C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire (or where ever you installed the game) and delete the main Sins folder.

Once you do this, download the file below (follow the link in IE, as other browsers will simply display it as a text file):

Save the file to your Desktop and run it from your machine. Then, reboot your PC and go back to Impulse and try installing the base game. Make sure it installs to 1.15 version, test it out.

Thank you for your excellent suggestion(s). I have saved the fix for the future if needed.

I took out my saved maps (galaxy folder emptied), then used notepad++ to modify the settings.ini file to force windowed mode, low settings and no opening movies but that didn't work either.

Finally I downloaded a previous update v1.05, ran it and then updated to 1.15, checked the settings ini and it worked!! I am back to playing! Now if I could only get Ironclad Online to connect LOL....(thanx to the monk, et all anyway).
