AI ship construction

100% cobalt light frigate

I was playing 3 normal AIs in a 2v2, and both of them built nothing but seemingly random capital ships and cobalt light frigates. later in the game, it began building seige frigates, but nothing else. has anyone else noticed this?

For the most part i've noticed TEC on normal difficulty builds primarily Cap Ships, Cobalt Light Frigates and Siege Frigates, with the occasional LRM.  I am not sure if this is due to the difficulty level or a bug in the AI, but I would assume that since Normal difficulty is supposed to be fairly easy, the game limits the AI to certain ship types making it easier to counter.

I have noticed that Vasari on Normal Difficulty builds primarily LRF Assailants and very few Medium Assault Skirmishers, almost the opposite of TEC on normal.  Either way, Normal Difficulty seems to allow for very few if any Cruisers.  Not sure if this is intended or not.

If you ever start to feel that the AI is predictable and that it doesn't always make the best decisions...you could always come play online multiplayer (it's the Ironclad Online button).  At least log in and play humans v. AI games (aka comp stomps).  You'll get to meet and chat with some other Sins players and you might have fun playing with human teammates.

I move that the development team construct an even deadlier level of AI, or better yet, give the end user the tools to create their own AI opponent profile.
