Request of Devs: Pirates... Please Read

I'm absolutely loving this game.  From what I can get my hands on, the Entrenchment expansion is going to be awesome as well.  I really only have one "must have" request.  Is there any chance that we could get an option to make the pirates tougher?  I don't just mean giving them more ships, but giving them tougher ships.  Not only tougher ships, but I'd like to see them get a lot more aggressive.  Maybe they could pick grav wells they consider thier "territory" that they defend aggresively.  Maybe they do a better job of preying on trade and refinery ships.  Maybe they even attack non-player character race worlds to gain territory?  You all know the system better than I do, so you know what's feasible and what isn't.  I'd just LOVE to be able to crank up the intensity and capabilities of pirates without having to mod.  :)

Everything else is great!  Any other things I may have posted about are really minor.  This though, is a serious request.  Could we get a slider like we do for native inhabitants in the in-game map creator?

I definitly agree that the pirates need to be tougher. When I play against the AI, late game I will get into huge bidding wars to see who can put the most bounty on someone. I put some on him, he puts a little more on me, so I put more on him. Eventually, it gets to the point where I put over 500,000 on him and then the pirate raid. With this much bounty, the pirate raid should be a fleet of EPIC proportions. Not a couple of weak little ships.


My suggestion to appease everyone, those who want the pirates to be stronger and those that don't, is that when you turn the pirates on or off, there should be levels of their intensity. Instead of just "on" or "off," how about off, low, normal, and high levels of pirate activity in the area. Higher level equals more pirates in a raid.

Changing intensity would be a great option! Of course, you'd probably want to have pirates with tougher ships at the higher intensities, which would be neat as well. And yeah, size of pirate fleets should be linked to how many credits are spent.
