Galciv Mallware or not?

Disc drive goes wild when on your web site, WHY?

I noticed that my compuiter disc drive is constantly writing when I log onto your site. My task manager shows that a second program called a Galciv II" Launcher"  is running in the background. When I shut the launcher down, my disc drive stops all the writing, and your site works just fine still. What is that launcher program actually doing to my PC?

The launcher has nothing do do with the website. Sounds like it may have just have not closed properly the last time you ran the game.

How should he know? He already said they have nothing to do with each other, and they don't. Look in your startup folder and run msconfig it the launcher is bothering you, and kill it from starting. It's as simple as that :).

If I understand what you're referring to, this "launcher" is just what it says it is. It's the little screen that lets you start a game, update, etc.

Yours seems to be starting up automatically on boot, and possibly not shutting down properly, which is a problem on your end, but there's nothing the least bit scary about the program itself.

This is Stardock, not EA. No malware involved! ^_^ (Never betray that trust, SD!! ^_^)

I'm pretty sure the launcher doesn't start at boot time by default. At least it's not here now, and I just started the computer and checked the tasks (and processes).

Did you run any virus scanners, adware scanners etc.? Maybe you have an entirely different problem and this is only one symptom.

Start the computer then press the TOA icon. When the TOA menu comes up, go to the game web site. Then check the tasks once the web site comes up. My PC keeps on up/downloading data.

Well, if you START the launcher, it will be running. You stated that the launcher is running all by itself, which it simply isn't.

I also can't see the behaviour of my computer still transferring data once the website is loaded, no matter if the launcher is still running or not.

Therefore my question: What else do you have running, in particular scanner, and have you scanned your computer?

Yes I have scanned my PC for mallware and viruses. When you follow the steps I listed, does your computer not do the same as mine?

No.

No activity with the launcher running, no activity with launcher and website, and no launcher on reboot.

Well I have no idea why this is happening!
