Mods...not there?

Sure, why not?

For starters, I am pretty sure I should put this here and not in Technical, since it is an exclusive problem with mods. The game works fine. Alright, I am working with 32-bit Vista, just to mention.

- I go to my Sins folder in Program Files and make a Mods folder.
- Check in the Mods area in the Options menu of Sins and see that the modpath is indeed the new Mods folder.
- Download a mod, say, Bailknight's 1.2
-Once downloaded, I drag (extract) the bailknight_1.2 into the Mods folder.
-Start-up Sins and find that the box with the mod listing (right of the Verify Modpath) has nothing in it.

What is causing this?

Have you patched your game? Release version has no mod support.

He states he has the Mods area in the Options Menu so he should have patched already.

Firstly, if your having to create the folder your definitely not in the right place.

Secondly, unless something has changed in 1.05 the mods folder isn't in Program Files, the path should look something like this (yes for vista)

C:\Users\{Your Username}\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\

So i suggest you recheck your mod path in game.

I had the same problem, go to search and type in "appdata" without the quotes and double click it to open it, then double click the local folder then double click the ironclad folder then double click the sins folder then drop the mod into the mods folder. I have all my mods in that folder. My problem now is when I try to start a mod from in the game I enable the mod and click to start it on game start, I get nothing. The game runs as normal with no mod running even though i have the mod enabled in the mods option in-game. If anyone knows what is my problem please post here. I wonder if me running the patch 1.05 makes the mods not work?

Yeh, Terazziel is right. Wasn't paying enough attention to the OP.

Bill, 1.05 has no problem running mods. That said, your issue sounds strange... this happens with any mod or just one particular?

And for those running XP.....

C:\Documents and Settings\"YOUR FOLDER NAME HERE"\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods

Many people are putting mods in their actual game folders within their program files...this is a secondary path (almost the same as game folder) which controls your mods...

For people who cannot see Application Data or Local settings...you may have to enable "view hidden files", as Windows defaults this to "off" so people don't mess up critical files.

Do this by selecting the "Tools" menu, then "Folder Options", then click on the "View" tab, scroll down and enable "Show hidden files and folders" You should be able to see all you need.
