Progenitor shield restore overpowered on self.

Progenitor shield restore overpowered on self.

I just had a mutiplayer game I had 2 sova one with 3 bomber squad and the other with 4 agasint a level 5 Progenitor.

I had strikecraft armor and missile batteries.
I had first tier laser armor and health upgrades.
He didnt seem to have any.

I had to withdraw a Sova without the Progenitor having taken any hull damage, it kept restoreing its shields.

Despite up to 6 missile batteries 2 sova class carriers and 7 bombers hitting it
it took one of my ships down from full to almost dead without once taking any hull damage it just constantly restored its shields.

The bloody ability is vastly overpowered and SHOULDNT work on the Progenitor should cost more antimatter so it cant just be spammed constantly during a battle... or TEC shield version should work on self aswell..

Even at equal levels you still didn't have the tools to win. You went all combat vs. the ultimate defensive cap ship, you lost.Had you a single disabling ship, the outcome would likely have been dramatically different. Your next example, the 4 Dunovs is almost exactly the same thing (though I wonder what his phase missile research was and if he had gravity warhead). He took an all combat force into battle against massively defensive ships and lost. Replace the 4 overseers with subverters and it's a slaughter (even if subverters weren't overpowered).More varied fleet makeups are an absolute must to win-- especially against those ships.

As before I'm not completely ruling out it being imbalanced and your shield restore argument has some merit however, the scenarios you're coming up with don't prove anything precisely because the fleets so far are overwhelmingly lopsided to combat with 0 real support.

Does distortion field work against capitals?

Stupid non-edit: Another solution might be to bring 15 or so teched light frigates, which would also serve to disable 4 Dunovs.

Nope they wo\uldnt

emp...

how about mass bombers and fighters

maganitize.

however im statisfied

Advent get Progenitor I TEc Dunov.

I will use them and not bother to mentioned on the forums either again that anything is wrong.

If anyone else brings up the imbalance..

I will just do what everyone else does

Claim dunovs should defeat main battleunits despite the fact they are supportunits because there supportunits and support units should be able to kill singlehandedly combat units.

So your closing argument is that support craft are potent when brought into battle against an unbalanced fleet? Your end analysis suggests that had you actually had a support craft(Dunov) against the Progenitor, the outcome could have been different. None of the support caps have the firepower of the offensive ships. What they have in stead of massive guns is massive defense, capable of extending a fight and neutralizing offensive advantages. As such, those vessels punish fleets without support craft of their own. If combat were greater than all as you seem to be suggesting, why have support craft at all? The end result of such a balance would be to make support craft superfluous except for perhaps combat enhancers like the Ceilo.
