Merging sins plus - Texture pack I - bailknights graphical

a) Download bailknights graphical mod 1.1 , download texture pack , download sins plus 1.2b mod ( all related threads are in in the modding section )

b) extract the texture pack into the MAIN sins of a solar empire folder and run the mt install.bat ( i think its .bat or .exe )

c) Extract the sins plus 1.2b into the mod dir so it looks like this C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\Sins Plus (by Uzii) v1-2b. Making sure the sins plus mod folder has all the folders inside it.

d) Extract bailknights graphical mod somewhere temp and copy the particle folder and mesh folder files ( Mesh - Any files modified after 2008-03-08 ) into C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Mods\Sins Plus (by Uzii) v1-2b\Mesh and \Particle Do not copy over the gameinfo dir it isn't really worth it.

e) run game and enable mod.

HUGE THANKS TO THE MODDERS , MUCH RESPECT!

Overriding files in the Meshes folder will be OK.

Overriding the folder itself will leave you with a few shocks. Namely; 8. ;)

Can't say i noticed anything thats not working

No, yeh, it should all work. As long as the few new meshes that are included in Sins Plus stay there, it should all be absolutely fine.

Bailknight told me that the files of importance are Any files modified after 2008-03-08 , so i'll just use those ones for the mesh folder :D

Wouldn't it work just as well to just extract the planet texture pack into the mod folder as well, and intergrate it with Sins plus that way? Not including the Icons_planets.tga file from the texture pack, since this makes the new planet icons go all buggy.

In other words, skip step a) and carry on with everything else, but before you start the game and enable it, extract the contents of the texture pack somewhere temp, and copy all files inside the MT Textures folder EXCEPT for Icons_planets.tga, and it should work just fine.

This way you wouldn't have to replace anything in the game folder. So that you can easily disable the mod when you want to play vanilla sins. (like when playing against other people online).

Oh, and one last thing. When you enable the mod, make sure to check the option to enable mod on startup, and then RESTART THE GAME. If you don't do this there's a chance your game will crash after about 10 mins of gameplay. The reason for this is unknown, but the fix is easy, so it's no big deal.

From the readme of bailknights graphic mod:
...........
7. Go option -> mods -> enable mod to activate mod.
8. Check "Load mod on start up"
9. Quit Sins because directly after activate mod Sin is very unstable that time and may cause minidump in few minute after loading.
10. Start Sin and enjoy mod.
...........

I once got a minidump when I skipped this step. And yes, that was with v1.03 and the latest versions of all mods. Doesn't seem to happen everytime, but it's possible.

I didn't need to do that as i don't use the gameinfo files from bailknights mod only the graphical bits . The main mod is sins not bailknight... Not had a crash yet ( always a chance knowing my luck though )
