Anybody figure out shield colors yet?

I know it was thrown about a while back, but I still think having different shield colors would be nifty.  :)

Was thinking red or maybe green for Vasari, blue for Advent, red or violet for TEC (have to think about that one a bit more).

I edited the mesh on one of the cap ships and played around with some of the shield color settings, but couldn't seem to get anything to actually change.  But I really didn't know what I should be changing, exactly, anyways.

Actually the shield bubble color is just the reflection of the skybox. But i have no idea how to change that.(except changing the color of the skybox)

I believe this is hardcoded or not modable yet. I even tried to apply a texture to a shield mesh, just to see what would happen - nothing happened. So it must be controlled by something else, much like the animated cloud layers on planets and star surface animation.

I'm guessing it's a procedural shader rather than a texture.

I would agree. Furthermore, there is a sort of an effect, transparent black circles expanding at the impact area, which initially led me to believe that there is a shield-related texture, but I was unable to find anything like it.

I wanted star trek-like blue shields so i clanged the color of one of the skyboxes to bright-blue. But all ships have that color too. Not too bad though...
