Preferred Multiplayer Game Speed?

Is there any consensus yet among experienced players as to which gameplay speed is best for multiplayer play? I have tried Normal/Fast but the only noticeable difference for me is the movement speed of the ships. Some people prefer slower and more methodical play. Others like to get to the fighting as soon as possible. Thoughts?

Our stats show the strong majority of players never adjust the game speed in multiplayer thus they are playing at normal speed.

I prefer fast. Even with a fast game setting, the game can still take 2+ hours, and I'm not trying to spend anymore time than that in one game.

I heard over at GameFaq.com that fast speed doesn't increase the speed of everything equally. What got me was that it makes ships move faster linearly but does not increase their turn speed. What this means, is ships can fly past all your defenses quicker and keep phase jumping around in circles, but my ships can't turn around fast enough to follow them.

I wonder if you have stats showing up how many of those "normal" speed players actually finish the game they started . Based on my MP experience probably less than 10% :). Not that it much better with "fast" speed though (well at least I finished some).

I played a 5v5 on a three star system that was finished in 3 hours on normal speed. I like it, more relaxing.

3 hours? I'm shocked. I play on a small random my 4 MP games, and took 3 hours. 3 of the 4 quit as soon as they saw they were not winning (no GG, or thanks, or bye, nothing), but I kept playing till I wiped out all their planets because I was not sure if I quit too, if I would get a win recorded.
