Longshot Question

Was just wondering if there is such a thing as a FREE modelling software that can work with sins models. (I doubt it but might as well ask.)

There are a least a couple: Blender or Softimage XSI. Blender is open-source and free, and Softimage XSI has a "mod tool" pack that's free to download and use. Blender exports to .xsi format (as does XSI, obviously), which you can then convert to .mesh files using the tool supplied in the SOASE mod pack.

You can also look at Wings3D or Google SketchUp, but I don't think either will export to .xsi, though they are okay to use in getting your feet wet in modelling - as far as I know. I just started myself. :)

I know there's a free version of maya available for download (and packaged with some games like unreal 2k4)as long as you don't try to make money with it you can do whatever you want with it. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=7639525

It;s supposedly geared twoardsw the begninner and user friendly so you can learn as go with minimal fuss. (I downloaded it once ages ago, but never got around to doing much with it. *shurgs* )
