Amusing things I've noticed.

Thanks for the smiles.

Just a couple of amusing things I've noticed about the game and the people here in the forums discussing the game. 1. Discussions that spring up regarding how something is worthless sitting next to another thread discussing how powerful and useful the exact same thing is. (Culture and the Deliverance Engine, for example.) Guess this game might have more than a little depth to it, since the same aspect can be viewed completely differently by different people. Appealing to different play styles is tricky. 2. The burning torches on the Pirate Vessels. For some reason, those amuse me. And sort of remind me of the Reavers from Firefly/Serenity. Hmmm... 3. The way that, though some game aspects don't work like I expected them to, when I think about them for a few minutes, I suddenly can see a reason for it to work that way. For example, I didn't understand the whole Tax Penalty, when my fleet was small with a lot of unused Support Points. It wasn't until I realized that the penalty was there because that's the cost for maintaining such huge reserve. In fact, I began to think about it as members of the Solar Navy that were waiting for a ship...and thus the penalty was what was needed to support all that personnel. All of a sudden, with a slight adjustment of my thinking, I completely understood why something worked the way it worked. The reason I come up with may not be the reason the devs made it behave that way, but it works for me and adds to the sense of immersion in the setting of the game. 4. Finally, something that always makes me smile: Having my attack fleet arrive in orbit right as the MegaWeapon projectile slams into the target planet. Ah...timing is everything. Thanks IC and Stardock. I think this game is fun and provides me with a good amount of entertainment, both in game and out of game. (What amusing things have you seen?)

Heh the pirates remind me of reavers too. But they are mild in comparison!

Yeah. I was watching my fleet destroy the pirate base when I zoomed in a saw the burning "torches." I was slightly amused, but was again reminded of them when I was watching an episode of Firefly my TiVo had picked up.

"Huh...pirates=reavers?" Though I don't think it would translate well, I all of a sudden had an image of a Serenity Mod.

In any case, it amused me.

And the fact that though I spaced my original post, it didn't take...but my response? That spaced right. Kinda amusing as well.

If a post has more than 2 paragraphs and is longer than 3 lines the typical noob(which is probably 75% of any games population or more) will skip the thread... Usually.(I find that amusing)

Oh an amendment to this pictures can increase the maximum amount of paragraphs and/or lines by several times.

My sentiments exactly.

Paragraphs are your friend, and mine.
