Britney Spears Inspires a Word

oops... i did it again

The responses to my way-too-popular article "Britney Spears is Ugly" have convinced me the world is in need of a new term for ugly. So, in the tradition of fugly, I present to the world brugly.

brug•ly (bruhg•lee) adjective

brug•li•er, brug•li•est

1. Any unattractive person who somehow acquires a reputation for attractiveness or beauty. Eg., Britney Spears.

"That actress is brugly!"
"I've seen some brugly people but that girl is the brugliest!"

[Contraction of "Britney ugly," referring to singer Britney Spears.]

Excellent work, Gene . . . I would like to suggest that Sarah Jessica Parker and Barbara Streisand are both "bugly".

Sarah Jessica Parker and Barbara Streisand

The only difference being, with them I'd still "go there." Wink-wink, nudge-nudge. But I'm certainly not going to claim they don't qualify.

Most of the "Sex in the City" girls qualify, as far as I am concerned. (Okay, I had a serious crush on Cynthia Nixon in the late 80's but I am soooo over it.)

P.S. --

I'm considering adding an "r" and calling it "brugly." That way there is no confusion about it being about bugs or "butt ugly." I'm beginning to think it also sounds catchier. What do you all think? I have to decide before I start propegating this around the web.

Bwahahahahaha.

Well, since absolutely nobody is responding, I guess I will change it to "brugly." It's kind of grown on me.

there was bound to be some confusion (with butt ugly for sure) so you need the 'r'.  i suppose you could have continued along that path and added 'ri', thus producing 'brigly' but youd have been explaining that for the rest of your life.  all things considered, you done good.

you need the 'r'.

Thank you King. I had just changed the article while you were posting.

One of the comediennes on Last Comic Standing last night was talking about this type of thing. Her way of putting it was ugly girls who are so confident in themselves you begin to convince yourself they are attractive. All she needed was the word brugly and she was running for home!

The world needs this word.

(Now I'm off to write an article bitching about how poorly read my little blog is and how no-one loves me. It would help if I would stop blacklisting the people who actually read and respond. )

Alas, while I like the idea I can hardly afford the 8 domain names I already own. Most of them are bunched up around August. "Do I eat or do I renew my domain name... hmmm...." So far I have been renewing the domain names.

Urbandictionary.com already has brugly as being defined as "someone who's name is Brian and ugly" eg Brian Wilson is brugly. Your definition is a lot better though - you should add it to the definition!

OMG, that's exactly what it looks like! I wonder if that's the deluxe model with built in vibration?
