Anybody using carrier/drone cruisers?

Does anybody out there use the carrier/drone cruisers from the various races? It seems to me that they aren't really worth the effort. I think it would be nice if they carried 2 squadrons instead of 1, or at least were upgradeable to 2 squadrons. Currently it doesn't seem like you get enough combat value for the research and construction cost that you put into them.

What's the point of using the Serevun Overseer anyway? I always thought the Stilakus Subverter is better. The Subverter is cheaper, gives all friendly ships a 25% shield-negation ability bonus, and can disable enemy abilities. The Overseer is tougher, but it's only role is an early-warning system - detecting and slowing down enemy phase jumps. For the extra price, is it even worth it? Both support cruisers are identical apart from price, defensive features, and abilities.

with reactive armour:
overseer can increase the max hull of a ship by 200 (lasts till 250 damage inflicted or 60 seconds pass), repair 250 hp instantly and add 2 armour.
costs 50 antimatter, 2 second recharge.
