So what am i doing wrong! ?

Too many resources

Ok this is going to sound like the most ridiculous problem of all time...

Firstly - loving the game im 5 hours into a game and really enjoying it - that said however i have 200k credits, 15k metal, 40k crystal - i cant seem to spend the credits because i run out of metal. in the few games i've played i always end up with this massive abundance of credits.

As this is an 8 player ffa - the black market prices for metal are about 1500-1700 per 100 unit - so in my mind thats not an option.

And yes i know build a bigger fleet - i would but i have to keep waiting for the fleet research to go up! is it purely just because im going slowly that my resources are stockpiling like this? (although it is fun to occasionally just throw 25k bounty onto someone and watch:P )

You've certainly got enough money--if I'm in a game with that much, I'd gladly pay whatever price the metal costs (I recall paying up to 5000 per back in the beta).

You may also try building refineries (if advent, build trade posts and research the switch to refinery mode), and increasing your allegiance with culture (improves resource gather efficiency).

Ya there is really no point in the game where you should have that much resources unless your just mopping up.. and/or your fleet is just that much powerful then everyone else that you don't lose ships. I never went above 10k of anything untill the game was more or less beat... even if it is expensive, use the black market to buy what you need. also if you are making that many resources then your right ... you need a bigger fleet... sounds like your playing on easy because lagging that far behind in a normal/hard game would be kind of crazy... or did you put resources on high... i put them on low.

na i played everything on normal. in 8 player ffa. there are 3 guys in my star system. c

question on refineries can u have more than 1 on a planet - cause i noticed that resources can take up to 3 refineries each? and yea i will have to increase my culture i think to make up for the dispraportionate amount of money to metal / crystal!
