Question: If your going to colonize another star system will those colonies need a new capital or will they use your home planet in the starting system?

They still link to your home planet. In some cases its a good idea to move your capital to a planet one jump from a star or to the new system to get better allegiance. Stars eat allegiance quite a bit (2 jumps minimum).

Hmm...you would think different system would need a new capital.
