wow... i've been wanting, nay, craving for better graphics on some of the old wire frames... this is going to make my weekend.

Those components have been in the latest beta, actually, and I've got mixed feeling about them.

One one hand, they DO make the Yor ships look FAR better than they did before. On the other hand, the Yor components were some of my favourite "generic" pieces, as they were practically the only ones that allowed you to make a ship look sleek and elegant with lots of curves (the Thalan/Drath components don't count, as they tend towards spikier ships instead of elegant ones). Obviously, the old shape is still there, but the textures will make it a little harder to make sleek, solid designs look the part.

hey Starstriker -- if i had any money to spare, i'd bet that it'd be less than a month (after final release) before some industrious modder comes out with something that'll give you access to the old skins as well as the new. true, it's a mod -- but why bother making sleek looking ships at all in an MV game?

(heck, in my last MV game, my final ship was a huge hull box, a few of those polygon attachment spheres, and functional comps; they were ugly, but they didn't bog down my system as much).
