the Xeno-Lab: Useless crap?

First of all - forgive my language - I couldn't resist the rhyme

I've been thinking about leaving out buildings as I upgrade my science. It occurred to me that the Xeno-Lab is not much use

Cost/turn Output Output/Credit
Basic lab: 1 6 6
Xenolab 2 8 4
Research Center 2 10 5

So why not just building many basic labs and upgrading some later, turning the rest into stock exchages or OFM, farms, ...

Or is there some hidden sense behind this?

xeno lab makes sense as a step when you have Library, or a couple of other bonuses, on homeworld in the early game, and those tiles are the only labs you are building. 33% increase in tp production for least number of weeks building.

Why are you complaining about xeno labs? Compared to the 10 TP output of the Initiall Colony they are quite good improvement. Why don't you check the Basic Factory with its 4 MP output and compare it to 16MP output of IC? I'd say that's quite the reason to complain.

Do that, if you can. But AFAIK there's no Stock Markets at that timeframe of the game...
