Why the future doesnt need us

Why the future doesnt need us

Superintelligent AI and the Singularity

What happens when we create the first AI that is more intelligent then the average human? Well, with technological progress at the pace it is today it will only take us 2 decades to acomplish this.

So what happens then? Do we hope we didnt make a mistake and live our lives letting the AI enhance themselves further and further. Or do we stop and think about what the consequences might be. We never know when a simple math problem asigned to a super intelligent entity might cause the extinction of the human race.

So, heres a questions. Should technological progress become more limited?

his job isn't to attract men into paid sexual ecounters... his job is to strike fear and terror into the hearts of trillions (I'm assuming the galactic empire has trillions of opeople in it.)...

I mean... the dude commissioned and then fired the deathstar... blowing up a whole planet full of people... more to scare people into obeying him then anything else.

oh yeah... and he fires lightening bolts from his hands. The fact that he looks like he's a 190 years old fossil only heightens the terror.

Good lord in heaven, where have you been? Ever heard of a little thing called "Final Fantasy"? The nuklear power comic strip is a satire of the original game in that series.

And I would have thought that any serious gamer would have played that game by now. There are about 4 remakes of it, 2 of which are currently on the market, (GBA version and a prettier PSP version) so go play it! There used to be a play station version (of which the GBA version is just a port) and I believe there was another remake somewhere along the way.

Or, just get a ROM of it from somewhere on the internet. But that would be, ya know, illegal. And you wouldn't get the interesting bonus areas / UI "Enhancements" they added in.

again... the forum code is bad... Stardock should should really just buy some quality forum software or get the freeware phpbb... No offense to stardock... great company. But I imagine you have better things to do then fix the forum so why not just get forum code that already works?

Final Fantasy originally came out for the Nintendo Entertainment system. I don't remember when it was released in the US, but it was somewhere in the early 90's (a relative gave me his copy as a gift for my birthday sometime in '95...).

I love wikis:

The NES version was released in the US in 1990, and the port I couldn't track down was a mobile version (still TBA for the USA). There was also an MSX and Wonderswan version released in Japan that never made it here.

does the psp version have updated graphics? or is it like a rom or something?

Yes, they are updating the graphics. The GBA version had 16 bit graphics that looked like any other Super Nintendo / GBA game. Dunno how far they're taking that with the PSP version though.

What's the latest FF game that works on the PC? I don't do consoles...

I think they have finally finished with FF, though that is unlikely.
