I played a custom setup game yesterday using my now perfectly tuned hand picked race. I started a game in a tiny region with 2 normal opponents and a lot of habitable planets. First turn I realised I was in serious poo-land, I had the Drath to the south of me and the Iconians to the North West, right on top of the Iconians was another system, with only 4 systems in the game whoever got that system was guaranteed a nice advantage.
Unfortunately for my race the Kaiidan Imperium, I was over 1.5 sectors away. With the Drath on my door step quite literately I had to move very fast to secure a reasonable start for myself. So first turn I rush built a colony ship and a factory, next turn I colonised Q10 planet within my home system. Again I rush built a factory, and designed a long range fast colony ship which I of course rush built. I sent the 2 rushed long range fast colonisers to the Drath system in hopes thast I could steal some of their planets. But they had already colonised both of their only inhabital planets. So I resent my ships to the NW to see if the system near the Iconians had been taken yet, a few turns later and SERIOUSLY in debt from colonising my colony ships arrived in the new system, what I saw there made me want to cry. 5 very luch planets on average Q12s
and best of all all unoccupied, so I rush built more colony ships and sent them on their way.
By turn of the new year I had pretty much colonised the 4 planets in my home system and well on my way to getting the last of the 5 the system to the NW. I had 8 planets at my command and only one was under Q10 and ever that was a Q8 planet. I was till hurting from the rush and my bank account looked terrible, I was taxing my citizens into infinity but somehow had their respect still, by half way through year 2226 I had colonised all the planets in the NW system and had almost all my system on the well to being well developed, as my population skyrocketed my income was doing the same. Now it was time to further expand.
Eyeing up the Drath I realised they have yet to develop space weapons, they had made the mistake of focusing internally rather than externally and I was about to seriously ruin their day. I quick researched Space Weapons and Invasion and within 10 turns had my first transporter and long range assault ship ready. I sent the assault ship in first with the intention of clearing the annoying Drath resistance from the orbit. 2 turns later the transport arrive just in time as my bombardment tech matured. They took the homeworld of the Drath with ease, 5 turns later the Drath lost their only Starbase and their second world, the race was defeated.
I setup the building queues for these planets and set my sights on the Iconians, not I knew these guys were no fools but considering they only had 4 planets and I now had 11, I didn't see much they could do about it. I sent the long range assault ship to the Iconians system while I rush built a number of troop ships 10 turns later the first undefended Iconian world fell 2 turns after that another, 3 turns after that yet one more. All was left was the Iconian captiol of New Iconia and with Marine and Tidal tech under my belt I sent just 1 billion of my finest elite storm troopers to assault the last refuge of the Iconians, 2 turns later they fell in spectular fashion, a mere 1 billion Kaiidan defeat 8 billion rag tag iconian militiaman with only 230 million losses. As the flag of the Kaiidan Imperium rose above the defeated capitol a small grin appeared on my face. Upon looking at the date March 8th 2228 I will forever remember that day as the day I so totally owned the normal ai.
I ownz
Now I feel ready to try the same setting but on tough.
