Does it make any difference if you specify hands only have four fingers and one thumb?
The Negative Prompt I Have Seen Used Well For Effect would Be "Badly Drawn Hands". I Still Do Not Use Many Negative Prompts pelaird as i said earlier, Still Trying To Hone Other Things Until I am Happy, Then maybe i will work on Negative Prompts. The Getting The Prompt Right Comment was intended for Faces, They Can Be Created Well With The Right Positive Prompts Like, Include A head Covering, Or Beautiful Facial Features With A Vivid Eye Colour, Or Blood Red Lips. With Faces, If You Use The Right Amount Of Positive Prompts For A Certain Thing (in this case Faces) You Can Get What You Want Without Using Negative Prompts. Even Though I now Have Thousands Of Created AI Art Images, I am Still Learning, Believe It Or Not, The AI Generator Can "Hallucinate" If It Does Not Have All It Needs For What It Thinks Makes A Better Image. The Tech Is Moving Quickly Though With New Corrective Tools All The Time, So Tick Tock.AI Will Become More Accurate Based On A Users Input.

(note = I am using crayon ai for100 percent free since I obviously do not understand prompts)
Sorry PhoenixRising1, I Have Never Used Crayon AI, So Cannot Comment On Your Results, All I Can Say Is There Is More At Work Here Creating AI Images. I Have Tried 2 Other Prompt To Image Generators, And Some Work Better Than Others. Negative and Positive Prompts Are Only a Small Part.
Example= I Can Get Sometimes, Very Different Images Based On The Same Prompt, If I Choose To Change My Model, ie (there are several Including, Dreamshaper, Stable Core, Ideogram, SDXL, Real VisXL, DALLE) Each One Giving A Slightly Altered Image Based On The Model.
The Same Is True For Style Pre-sets , As There Are Even More, Things Like, Vivid, Mech, Photo, Realistic, Hyper Real, Striking, Anime, Vibrant, Colour Painting, Epic, Abstract, CGI, Modern Comic, Cubic, Pop Art Neo, Oil Painting, Cosmic, Sinister, And That Is Only Half Of What They Have. Each Renders Slightly Altered Results, Regardless Of Settings, Some Do Faces Better, Some Do Hands Better Without Negative Prompts. None Are Faultless Giving Perfect Results. Usually, The Higher Cost Pre-sets Like DALLE-3 , Give Much Better Results, Like Most Things, You Get What You Pay For.
New Corrective Tools Are Being Released To Solve Some Issues, Not Long Ago The Site I Use Gave Us Face Correction In A Couple Of Clicks, To Save Users Who Find Negative Prompts Difficult To Use, Maybe We Will Soon Have Hand And Feet Corrective Tools As Well, The Site Is Very Progressive, So I May Never Need To Even Go Down The Negative Prompt Learning Curve, Which Would Be A Great Thing For Peeps Like Me Who Struggle With Learning New Things Due To My Vascular Parkinsonism Dementia.
Interesting that from my experience, roller coasters are tricky for some AI engines, who always seem to mess up on track visuals. Here is one of the better ones that I came up with, on a prompt. And it's still missing something. Perhaps someone can come up with a much better, more accurate and true image?

Some AI programs still have problem getting hands and feet right , but the program that does it best and more realistic is Midjourney v6 soon to release new v6.5 ..
