Food tooltip is bugged or missleading?

Food total doesnt appear to equal income - consumption the way it does in GC3

I'm confused regarding the food resource tooltip. it doesn't seem to add up:

Is it bugged or am I missing something?

a lot of the tooltips  seem to be carried over from GC3, and not fully functional.

 

There are ways to monitor food production planet by planet, but this being an Alpha, it is not organized yet.

IMHO that info is useless for managing your food.  You can get more information just from the colonies list.
