No I don't know what I did and warning re capturing capital

Hi

,I'm playing a game (as the Terran resistance - Huge map 10 opponents so plenty of space to expand in the opening) and had almost total control before I suddenly to my surprise found myself at war with three of the remaining factions and that "You know what you did".

Stupidly, I didn't notice the declaration and imagine that it's because I implemented the "war with any faction that defies the United Planets" which I guess must be retrospective. Has anybody noticed this and a question to Stardock - Is it intended to be? Or perhaps three factions defied this vote and it was carried anyway which would make more sense?

As to what I've done, my spies have recently stolen an initial bonus tech from the Thalans - Star Federation. Is that espionage too far?

My other question is about the pragmatic ideology that  triggers war with everybody when you capture a capital. This apparently supersedes a non-aggression treaty though according to the rubric not an alliance. I inadvertently did so and while I am strong enough to handle it feel that perhaps I should have had a warning since it's easy to lose track on such a big board. The warning wouldn't have to be definite - since you don't have knowledge of their ideological choices and it would then give you information - but it might read: "Warning: This is the capital of a pragmatic race and taking the capital may lead to total war with all other factions. Proceed with attack? y/n"

Any thoughts please?

Cheers,

Jon

I've complain about this for over a year! What needs to be done is to make this more practical so you are only at war with all over Pragmatic factions. A warning is also a must.

Why would every race start a war with you over some other race's home world anyway? They might not even LIKE those aliens.

Hi

A good point since actually everybody was already at war with everybody else when this happened.

Cheers,
