My very polite feedback regarding substrate vs. PHC balance

New units, Athena and Eradicator. Unfortunately, I'm dead with no radioactive node since there's an Avatar on top of it building a turret WHILE shooting AND capping the node.

"Maulers are bad at job they're used for" (patch note 1.1) LOL. They wreck faces and laugh at Nemesis attack speed. For anything else that is not big? Avengers and Drone Hive wipe the floors with those.

Subs is fine guys. Being able to produce a Drone Hive / Dominator out by the first Assembly (and with only 2 starting nodes capped, wait, who am I kidding, you only need starting area + a radioactive node, say on Kralon) is not broken.

Legend players post on both Steam discussion, on official forum, and even upload youtube videos. Zero fucking reply from devs. Zero fucking acknowledge that you're aware of the problem. Zero fucking response. 

My suggestions include:

1. ALL SUBS CRUISERS (LOOKING AT YOU DRONE HIVE) AND AIR (LOOKING AT YOU DOMINATOR) MUST REQUIRE QUANTUM ARCHIVE OR AT LEAST 2 ASSEMBLIES OR BOTH OF THAT.

2. PHC AIR BACK TO REQUIRING FACTORY.

3. WHAT ARE 1&2 FOR YOU SAY? WHY HAVE FRIGATES IN THE GAME WHEN YOU NEVER FUCKING USE THEM. OH WAIT, PHC  USE THEM

4. AVATAR COST TO 60, INCREASING BY 20% EACH USE. DON'T EVEN FUCKING ARGUE THAT SENTRY COST 60 TOO, SENTRY CANT RUN WITH THAT STUPID SPEED AND CONSTRUCT ALL ACCESSIBLE BUILDINGS. IN FACT, BY THAT ARGUMENT, AVATAR SHOULD COST MORE THAN 60.

Watching the video and reading steam forums

There is a problem of the Subs faction.

It seems that some Developers favor Subs more as they are exotic and Subs have received substantial effort in development stage rather than Phc, but yeah- one needs to be objective and there is time and place when you have to let go of affections for facts.

Alas we all human. This will be fixed. The game is new and balancing is not a one days fix.
Its an ongoing war.

For weeks, and during the beta, the Substrate were definitively weaker.

So over time, we've been boosting them to try to find the right balance that makes them competitive.

It is clear watching Draginol's/Frogboy's/Brad's "play against the devs Fridays" that he prefers the Substrate. And more, he loves to heavily utilize the avatar. After the game he tends to chalk his win up to having built more quantum generators, which is probably partially true. But it's also true, arguably moreso, that the avatar spam was actually a key factor. If the avatar could not be spammed as such, the avatar would still be good (could even be buffed), but would not be as spammable early game, and would thus be fair. The cost would need to be 60 minimum. If that low, I think engineer would also need to be dropped to 50 and Incursion 80 to 90. Eh it's a balance thing. We can only hope the devs are watching diligently now.

We've been watching and crunching the numbers. 

Over the weekend we looked at the data and this week's micro update is this:

  • Avatar speed reduced from 250 m/s to 200
  • Nemesis logistics increased from 3 to 4
  • Zeus logisitcs increased from 3 to 4
  • Fury logistics incresed from 4 to 8
  • Hades HP increased from 1200 to 1250
  • Avenger rad cost increased from 24 to 39
  • Avenger logistics increased from 3 to 4
  • Dronehive metal cost recuded from 340 to 210
  • Dronehive radioactive cost increased from 38 to 60
  • Dronehive time to build increased from 44 to 45 seconds
  • Dronehive logistics increassed from 5 to 8
  • Mauler rad cost increased from 30 to 40
  • Mauler logistics increased from 3 to 4
  • Dominator rad cost increased from 170 to 220
  • Dominator logistics cost increased from 4 to 8
  • Avatar shield regen decresed from 10 to 6 per sec
  • Avatar now costs logistics (12).
  • Noctus map victory point condition increased from 500 to 1500
  • Fast and Furious and Dread Vallely added to ranked MP list
  • Yorkshire map preview added
  • Gateway build time incresed from 30 to 40 seconds
  • Gateway metal cost increased from 180 to 240
  • Gateway rad cost increasdd from 150 to 200

 

and this should go live today in time for this week's Devs vs. Fans.
