Win my first game on small map and random universe with 5 races

Played as beginner here..following the tactic of marigoldran
Works out very well, as it seems now but there was more strategy thinking involved for me to win this game
- example..destroy the shipyards from your enemy by circling around with a small cruiser fleet in the enemy territory
- destroy also the defending fleet
- destroy spacestation

There is one strange thing: i got a meassage from the Drengin race about spying ?

Strange, because i defeat them the Drengins and they disappered from the map and no diplomatic sign of them there anymore ( they exists no more as it seems )

Is this a bug..getting a message from Drengin while they not exist anymore  ? :D

Now i win a second game on nomal difficulty with a medium sized galaxy and random stars and 4 major races + one minor races + spacemonsters

What galaxy size and difficulty gives the most satisfaction to win ?
Still learned a lot of this second game..

It is by militaire power from cruiser fleets that i can attack enemy planets/shipyards and gain influence.. there is not yet coming a strong fleet from somewhere what is attacking my homeplanet or other colonies
I made a rapid development of cruisers and it seems that the other races building their cruisers on a lower speed

If their should be a race what has a fast build of cruiser and use them by attacking planets/shipyards.. could be a real threat for me  then.
Rapid colonization is one thing to get needed production power or research power.
Works very well out the strategy of marigoldran

Depends on your skill level. Normal has always been my preference because the AI gets fewer advantages and you are mostly playing on a level playing field.

I can win on the higher levels but it takes more attention than I am usually willing to invest. :)

It goes rather easy winning now..then you automatically thinking on a more challencing game.
Perhaps i can play on a max number of races  +  large map with the highest difficulty and random stars..
At he start you are limited by a 4 lifesupport distance as colonisation area..

It is simple strategy: rush colonising to get as much production and research power in a short moment of time .. only how many colonies are enough to get this ?..you are bounded by the range of the colonisers..

I am curious if it take much more attention to win on higher difficulty levels with the current strategy..

You will find that the big map games are quite different. They are much slower to get started to a high activity level and you are mainly involved in building your empire by colonizing as many planets as possible and accumulating resources.

When you finally meet the AI, on the high levels they will have a lot more stuff than usual and they will come after you hard if you are playing aggressive. On the big maps starting position is important. If you want to level out the advantages/disadvantages choose a scatter galaxy.

End of Franco's quote

In my strategy i am only worrying about having enough money to get/keep the cruiser fleet operational for attacking..  i am not interested in resource management with space stations (mining) or trading
Money..money ( economics that counts here only )
I will look how this will be worked out in a new game on a higher level  :D
