Galactic Civilizations III - Release 1.0 changelog

–RELEASED 05/14/2015–

Happy Galactic Civilizations III day, everyone! Release has arrived, and we’ve pushed the buttons to launch the 1.0 version of the game directly into your Steam client.

Thanks to all of our beta testers, Early Access players, Founders, and everyone else who helped us make the best Galactic Civilizations III we could. Of course, this is just the beginning – we have a roadmap for more Galactic Civilizations III content, from free patches to DLC to full expansions, that stretches on for years.

Read on for the full release day patch notes, and happy conquering!

Features

Added the campaign!

Fixes

Sets the minimum save version you can load to the April 30th build (saves before that will not be compatible with the released game)

Fixed the ghost ship bug (in some cases ships defending planets would disappear after battles, which could cause crashes later)

Fixed a black background issue with the Iconian leader movies

Fixed Typos

Balance

Made the tutorial easier

You won't see much in this changelog because we don't want to risk making a bunch of changes at the last minute. We have a game that we love, now we want to release it to the world.

It has been a long journey, and special thanks to everyone who took it with us. I spent some time today looking over old concept work, old versions and screenshots. We were at one point a 32bit game running on squares instead of hexes. We didn't license an engine for GC3, we made our own because you can't license an engine that does what we needed (we are looking forward to using Oxide's Nitrous engine for these types of games in the future).

This is where we started:

And this a tiny example of where we ended up.

Now to wait for more than 8 hours with the patience of something very much more patient than humanly possible. Makes you feel alive though! Haha! *Fences his way down the stairs, against imaginary foes*

Not surprised the list is short, I understand you don't want to break the game with the release version and we had a lot of updates already over the past couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, the game is unplayable. I can't start a new game or load an old game since beta 6. Ticket sent in, post in the support forums started, waiting for response!

MathKing try unistalling the game and refreshing he game folders. Here's the information form the support website:

"-Refreshing your GalCiv3 Setting Files

Please uninstall GC3 from Steam by following the instructions below.

Right click GC3 in your Steam library and select "Delete local content":

http://sd.stardock.com/brad.ather/Jingimages/2014-09-30_1133.png

You will be prompted to delete the game(Dead Man's Draw is just an example):

http://sd.stardock.com/brad.ather/Jingimages/2014-09-30_1134.png

Then, after GC3 has been uninstalled, please press the Windows key and "R" at the same time. In the window that appears, paste the path below and hit enter:

%userprofile%\Documents\My Games

In the "My Games" folder, if there is still a folder remaining called "GalCiv3" please rename (e.g. GalCiv3.OLD) it so a new one will be generated.

Then, once again, press the Windows key and "R" at the same time, and use the path below:

%programdata%\Stardock\

You should see a folder named "Galactic Civilizations III", please rename this as well.

Lastly, please navigate to the path below and delete the entire folder for GalCiv3:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Galactic Civilizations III

Note: The path above assumes you've installed GC3 to the default Steam directory. You may need to adjust the path accordingly if it is installed to a non-standard location.

Then, restart your computer and reinstall GC3 using Steam."

someone else mentionned a similar problem before, and to solve it, he had to refresh his installation of Windows.

Played for hours, then crashed out to the OS without generating a dump file.

Reloaded the last autosave and crashed out again after a few minutes.

Will try again. If it crashes again I will lodge a ticket.

Played for hours since release with no crashing myself, from general reviews and comments I think it's like a lot of games reasonably stable on many machines but very unstable on some. Hopefully they can track these issues down for those effected if your raising support tickets.
