Poll: Do you like the tech ages in galciv3?
please vote. ;-)
please vote. ;-)
no, let me choose my destiny, if I blow it is my fault.
Lolz
From what's been written and from only playing galciv2 and various other 4Xs I can say I don't think its a good feature to have.
Two threads on the same topic on the same day? Come on DARCA.
No this one is a poll.
DARCA you do realize that polls are inherently biased especially when you target such a small audience with no control over your current group of people. With it being posted deep in a Please remove tech trees, you produce a biased crowd of viewers as people who tend to agree with that topic are going to read that topic and those that don't like that topic will also read that topic. From there you have only a select few that are willing to push the strawpoll button to actually take a vote and another fraction that will go to the straw poll and decide not to vote.
Another form of bias is the actual strawpoll website. I find that there is no control of stopping someone from making multiple votes for their cause and utilizing a poll to help your argument is not an effective way to argue things in general.
Also, how you ask the question depends on the results you will get and how you interpret these results. For example, take a person who doesn't like the tech ages, but doesn't want it removed to an older system. You're question doesn't address that issue. I could not like tech ages and prefer that we don't see the techs we research instead and we get a random tech. Would you prefer that system? That is part of the group of people who do not like tech ages. This is a large problem with polls. There is also the group of people who don't care about the tech ages, but do care if it is changed to a particular system over another.
In essence, if you are going to use this poll as proof that the majority of people don't like tech ages, therefore we should return to the old system would be a false implication. You're question only address whether a person likes the tech ages, not what system they would prefer for a tech tree.
He is desperate.
It can go either way for me.
no - 51%
yes 49%
I am going to post it on steam forums. I know all about wording polls, and double voting isn't allowed. I didn't check the box to allow it, I'm honest. This poll is fair and simple ParrotMath.

I disagree, I think you're just paranoid. Most of the stuff I read from you is really snarky and false. There is nothing wrong with the wording of this poll there is nothing wrong with it at all. You're wrong, a walk along non-founder* like myself is neutral for a can't play the game. That didn't stop me from voting.
I like the concept but I'm not sure about the implementation.
I sorry that you feel that way. I do not intend to write snarky comments, I write them as clearly as I can without insult, but being a mathematician I find that I come off the wrong way on a lot of people when I speak or write. It is not my intention.
I do not speak from paranoia. If I speak falsely, is it when I said that wording of the poll can cause bias? I never suggested that there was something wrong with the wording of the poll, but the implications one can make from the wording of this particular poll.
I'm not wrong in that you were able to take the poll, in fact I didn't suggest that you couldn't take the poll. My point was about the population of the poll. What is the target population of the poll? The poll is supposed to suggest something about the target population, what is that population? Once you identify that population, you then identify the biases that can be introduced by that poll. I only suggested a few, but there are many that can be incorporated.
When the poll is done, I would be curious where it all stands and what can be inferred from the poll. As this is something I find interesting, the idea of polling. I like to know where this ends up and what the final results turn out to be.
I didn't mean to come off angry, upset or snarky. The wording is fine, but I worry that the implications you are going to use from that wording of the poll. I wrote a relatively long post about it. I am curious about the end results. (I'm also being fair and honest)
Yes, I like the tech ages...
I'm confused... should I break out and dance around in public. ( I already do
)
Yes, otherwise a will kill everything much faster ![]()
I think this is one thing that we can't adequately judge until we're closer to being feature complete. The frustration, or lack thereof, created by the ages could very well be impacted dramatically by the rest of the feature set and by the late development balance changes.
ages are a double edged sword. on one hand it allows you to organize your research and see where you fare among st the galaxy, on the other hand it creates a sense of urgency which some might not appreciate.
i can go either way on this hence didn't cast a vote.
