Yarlen, AI Behavior causing Stalemates please fix

The issues that we are seeing is when playing against the AI on the hardest settings.  I usually play with one or two friends on a regular basis and the problem is in early on games the AI is great at attacking the players.  but after you have beaten his attacks and get a Good defense setup and a good sizable force in place the AI will go into a defensive mode and will pretty much stop attacking you. This usually is after about 90 mins to 2 hours into a game.  The AI then becomes docile .

Its the Pre-calculations of if the AI feels he can not beat your fleet he will not attack you.  it then because a stalemate. and the Human player now goes on the offensive and littler just stats a mop up campaign or removing planet after planet.

The AI become pretty much non aggressive unless he goes after sectors that are not very well defended.  usually with turrets and a star-base or two in those he will attack. but not when a fleet is setting there.

Its this type of behavior we would like to see get revamped.,  make the AI more aggressive even in later games where his attacks are non stop and relentless.  plus the constant retreating by the AI gets to be annoying too, again that pre calculating crude they do.

This is why we play the hardest AI so we can get the best game from them and for them to be far less retreating.  We have a saying when we are playing AI, if your not bitching then its not a good game.  I like getting hammered by the AI and having to figure out new ways of beating them.  Can you guys look at making the AI better and have them do far less retreating?

I'm not sure if you ever played Conquest, but the one thing that was really great about hat AI was it was absolutely ruthless and would send fleets to attack you non stop.  This is what we are looking for when playing the AI.

I would love to hear your take on this Yarlen, please let me know.

Well, by your own account the AI gets slaughtered when he attacks right? So isn't the AI doing the smart thing and proving more difficult my not attacking? Your suggestion would only make the game harder for new players without adding any difficulty IMO. Clearly this is just part of the AI behavior you do not like, not an unintentional bug.

Besides, there is an easy trick around this. Build a bunch of phase jump inhibitors, retreat your fleet, when the AI comes to attack send it back in and kill them.

Your missing the point, the AI gets to a point where he wont attack. he just sits and waits. and when you do come in and attack him, after he losses his Titan, he retreats.  That becomes the MO of the AI through out the rest of the game.  Its then pointless to really go on a mop up campaign at that point. The AI needs to be more aggressive. and as for new players, well that is what the lower difficulties are for.  play at your level.

And we are talking about the AI, the AI has the ability to rebuild mass amounts of ships in a Short period of time,  This is why they are given bonuses at the higher difficulty levels.  Your comments speak about how a human player would react.  The AI is different and should be more carless with his fleets and come at you harder.  the AI is veryt cable of rebuilding his fleets in short periods of time.

As some here don't seem like they are capable of playing at higher levels.  Myself, This is why I put the AI on the most difficult level, we want that Uber challenge. I need the AI to act accordingly. Not like some Uber weakling that is constantly retreating because his fleet is weaker.

Hes supposed to be defending his territory, not running away and leaving it defenseless.

Alright, I thought you were just wanting him to come into your death traps, I didn't realize it also happened when you attacked. Are you fighting it 2v1 though with max sized fleets?

Not just a maxed size fleet, but a pretty large one.  Like I was saying, its the same MO after you beat off his initial onslaughts.  I want to see more of him pressing his attacks and not running all the time.  And we are taking on some times two vs two or two vs three.

Hoping that IC will take a look at the AI and how they run from fights, I'm not suggesting they just sit and be a meal for our fleets, but i want to see them become more aggressive as the game progresses and get more protective of their planets as the player is attacking them.

Personally the way the AI runs from a battle and leaves their worlds unprotected to be slaughtered. if I was one of those citizens, id be pretty well pissed off seeing my military running away from a fight.
