Has anyone figured out how faction power is calculated?

Is there an exact formula? It looks like military units is part of it, but, not necessarily by their "power" but just by having X amount of units?

I also notice even though I don't lose any units it goes up and down per turn which is strange. It doesn't change a whole lot but it does go up and down about 4pts per turn sometimes. I also notice that the AI's I have set just a difficulty above challenging (hard mode I think it were) have 2x and 3x more of it than I do and they both have started on the spell of mastery as well just on the "hard mode" setting. wow!

I can just add, that the AI HP difficulty bonus is not calculated in faction power.

Yeah that AI HP bonus is murder even on HARD. I hit one of their leaders and hardly took a dent out of him with a Critical of 29 and then he comes over and wipes out my archer unit with a critical of 32 and he was BLINDED! That's just bogus man just bogus. Hard is like only one difficulty above challenging and they get those kinds of bonuses? Unfair man Unfair. Still fun game as I hate being able to wipe out AI's so easily. I'll just have to figure out better strategies like increasing dodge and pffft on death magic spells that are seemingly worthless vs higher difficulties.

@willie sanderson - There is randomness programmed into how critical, blindness and damage is calculated. That means using single examples dont not really give any meaning. A unit with a 1% hit rate (meeting the worlds best dodger) should hit every 100 times or thereabout. That one hit is not an example of how bad the random number generator is, but the result of how things work.
