Ragnarov Overcharge not working...

Not that the Ragnarov needs to be more powerful...

hey everyone... I was just playing a game as the TEC rebels, and I realized my Ragnarov's Overcharge ability isn't working... at least on Snipe.  It's supposed to be 2600 damage normal, 5200 on overcharge... but overcharged or not sniping is still only doing 2600 damage... which is scary by itself...  but it should be able to take down a starbase with 2-3 overcharged snipes...

Is this a bug???

Its most likely shield mitigation. Its important to remember that all damage numbers given in the game are BEFORE shield mitigation/ armor reduction. One really effective thing you can do with snipe is use it as an opener and combine it with overcharge, before getting into close range. This gives you one free shot where there is far less shield mitigation, which allows you to inflict huge damage.

I thought about shield mitigation... but I don't think that was it... I tried an experiment to see....  I set up a game and invaded a pirate base with the Ragnarov and a support fleet of frigates.  I don't think Pirates have shield mitigation, and there were no culture lines effecting it.

So I started taking pot shots at the orbital platforms, and sure enough, snipes were doing the exact same amount of damage whether they were over charged or not.... only 2600 points.  If I remember right, the platform has about 3000 pts... maybe 3300???  Anyway, an overcharged snipe with my Ragnarov should have been 5200....  even with around 30% shield mitiagion it should have blown away the platform with one shot....  but it didn't... every overcharged shot I tried, only 2600....

Something is definitly broken with Overcharge

I tried it in dev.exe, and it works normally for me

Testings were done with Snipe Lv4 and Overcharge Lv2

I'm not sure how dev.exe works... but in a normal game it seems useless.  I also had it at lvl 4 snipe and lvl 2 overcharge.  I don't understand how I could be doing something wrong... hit overcharge, ragnarov turns all shiny blue, then fire snipe.... nada....

Seriously, try it in a normal game... I know I'm not crazy, it's not doing any more damage.... at least I think i'm not crazy....

Were the pirates active or inactive? If they were active,  they may have gotten more powerful as time goes on. Besides that, defense platforms have a lot of armor, and I think the pirates might gain more armor as time goes on, I know they gain more damage, but not sure about armor.

They were active....the only thing I did was to eliminate the pirate fleet first so I had time to screw around and experiment.... I did no damage to their asteriod base itself... it was still owned by pirates. As far as hit points and such, I was going by the info I got when I moved the curser over the orbital platform...

I fired one shot each at two different platforms, one shot was overcharged, the other one not.  But each shot did the exact same points of damage... exactly the same... not one point difference... nada...

It's very confusing....

That is weird. I'd test this.... but that'd take too long x3

I cheated to re-test this using galaxy forge....  gave myself a big fleet to experiment with and plunked it near a pirate base.

Only took about 15 minutes or so
