minidumps are back
I"m not sure the dev's or the players are too surprised, so just wanted to inform everyone.
They are BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!

And a CTD when all i did was sift through the save-games lists to clear them... hit Multiplayer Autosaves and boom. Was excited to play again after weeks of waiting for mini-dump fixes... not so excited anymore just from that one thing.
....Got MD'ed in Dev.exe when I simply put in a Military Lab....*sighs*
tried reproducing... got nothing. race and faction?
Can those of you having issues please verify integrity of game cache in Steam and see if you still have trouble?
Another thing I guess I should mention about the Dev.exe even though its not related to the minidumps; It seems every now and then when I save an edited texture, the program ends up locking up and/or freezing when it tries to update the texture. It doesn't happen often, but when I restart the program the texture appears just fine as if nothing happened.
The dev exe is not recommended except for modders. It goes through extra checks and will assert or crash on various stuff the normal exe will not.
If you are getting a repro crash and have verified your files, please zip up your minidump and send it to us: rebellionsupport@stardock.com.
Thanks.
Then I guess its nothing i should worry about then I guess. (is it supposed to eat up a lot of memory during use of it too? Because it's going over 1 GB for me. o.0)
Anyways yeah I know, I'm using it to preview my ship textures and all that, almost done too. :3
After playing a match with a buddy of mine, it looks like most things were, indeed, sorted out. Game time restored.
Seriously, you guys are complaining about MDs in the dev.exe file? And complaining about 1GB of ram usage. I'm not sure if this is a troll post or serious. 1GB of ram is about 10 years ago.
Well I'm pretty sure Sareth doesn't use the dev.exe on a regular basis....don't know about the first poster...
I for one did a clean install because I remember what happened the last time the game updated...I'm not sure what is wrong but the updating is sketchy at best....
Updating goes fine.
You think yoooou have it bad? ah! I have 6gb of ram and i can only use 2gb with sins. Now That Sucks Ballz..(Technically the rest of the 4gb suck ballz if your not thinking literally.)
Great, now this thread has devolved into the "preferences" of RAM...what's next, a discussion about pudding and cookies? Or will it be another lame brony fest?
ram is cheap, even poor people can afford it. Don't go out to eat one or two nights, and boom, you have enough money for some ram.
Man i'm so rich.
It's how my computer is set up, have to get a whole new motherboard in order to use more RAM. So, yeah...stuck with 3GB, think there's 4 total...but, bleh....
I have 16 gig ram, I7 processor (even though I know really only one core is used) and a pair of HD6990's in crossfire and me and my bf got our first post 1.4 minidump yesterday
We immedicately verified cache and all that jank and it was all good. We will go back to the last autosave and see what happens.
He has the same amount of memory as me and a slightly better I7 processor and a single 7970 card.
We had played a few other games post 1.4 with no issues.
How can your motherboard NOT support more than 3Gb? Do you actually know anything about building computers? Even if there are two memory slots (and, why would you buy a motherboard with only two slots anyway), you can take the old RAM OUT and put new RAM IN. Chances are, if the computer is less than 6 years old, each slot will support at least 4Gb in each slot. If your computer is older than that, well, buy a $300 PC and you'll be thanking me.
For the record, you can buy 8Gb of ram for $30.
