can't seem to launch the game without a minidump

so, I decided to download the rebellion beta on my laptop today, downloaded steam, the whole nine yards.  I first installed steam, then installed the beta, it did not work.  Fine, fair enough, I uninstalled the beta, then reinstalled it.  Still would not work, the game would still launch, but before I even saw one graphic of the game I would immediately minidump.  Frustrated, I decided to uninstall the game, uninstall steam, delete all files, reinstall steam, reinstall the game, and much to my disappointment, another minidump.

anyone dealing with something similar? help would be appreciated.
