I was playing a small 2v2 comp stomp the other day. We had the upper hand but were unable to finish the game, stopping after about a couple hours. I then looked at the replay to see if there was anything that me or my partner could have improved on. The beginning of the game was completely normal, but after about 45 minutes in, something very weird started happening. In the original game, the AIs were almost completely focusing on attacking my partner, while I was saving up funds. But in the replay, after around 45 minutes or so, the AIs were shown to have attacked me, destroying my capital ship, a starbase, and eventually the rest of my worlds, despite the fact that nothing of the sort happened in the actual game.
A little more than an hour into the game, I maxed out on capital ship slots and built a Sova swarm. In the replay, they all rallied at a planet now controlled by the enemy and were easily destroyed one by one: in the actual game, nothing of the sort happened, and they proceeded to go on a rampage through a few of the AIs planets. That's what my partner saw too: whatever issue this is only popped up in the automatically recorded replay saved to my computer, but not in either of our games. Had my partner saw my planets and caps get mown down I would've just chalked this up to a desync, but it's not quite like that because the issue was only evident in the replay.
Anyone else have anything remotely like this happen to them before?
