Neato. Now how about early and immediate private alpha / beta access...
End of Thrawn2787's quote

...  :annoyed:

What is the point of asking the same question that they keep answering all over the forums? You realize that they aren't even to the 'in-house' alpha level yet right?

'Immediate' ... not threatening language at all.  :cylon:

No, it's the recommended spec.  If you ask us what OS we "recommend" you play the game on, we're telling you Windows 7 64-bit.
End of Yarlen's quote

Well, since you recommend 4gb ram, your Win7 x64 is the wrong choice

4 gb ram : 2 gb ram for Win7 64 bit and 2gb for all application ( sins, anti-virus, steam, impulse, and any other program who is running )

4 gb ram : 1 gb ram for Win7 32 bit and 3 gb for all application ( in these case, sins have the potential to reach his own limit who is 2gb )

A computer with 4gb ram and Win7 x64 will reach faster a out-of-memory using sins that the win7 32 bit... in fact, the game can minidump before it reach his 2gb limit... more, since sins is a 32 bit application, on 64 bit OS, a "translation" layer called wow64 run between the OS and the application... it somehow lightly decrease the performance of the 32 bit application...

By the way, what version of win7 x64 do you recommend? Starter is only 32 bit, Home basic only support 8 gb ram, Home Premium will allow to enjoy my 16 gb ram... as for Starter, Basic and Prenium, they only support one of my two processor... need to jump to professional ( over 300 euro ) for support my second processor...

Please, explain me why do i need to move from my xp pro x64 to win7 x64... unless having a OS using a huge amount of memory and resource for a cute desktop with some 3D effect is a advantage??? One last question, is Stardock on some Microsoft paylist for promote their newer product???

If you wish recommend people to use 64 bits OS for sins, first step is too make sins 64 bit... in so case, it will be a real improvement on performance...

Your win7 uses 2 gigs?

Wow, mine (Win7 64 bit) uses barely over a gig.

Well, wouldn't be the first time Wikipedia was wrong in some way. I can get Win7 down to 800 Mbs when I set it to my gaming settings. Nacey got his down to 500. 1 gig to 1.2 is what I normally see on most systems.

Ever since the website update, every page is taking 5 to 10 seconds to load in Chrome. As in 5 to 10 seconds at 100% CPU. It was pretty bad before (took a few seconds) but is horrendous now. For some reason Firefox doesn't have this problem.

I have heard that the problem is related to a bug Chrome has with Webkit and the background image, but unfortunately Chrome Adblock cannot block background images.

Also, when I mouse over a reply in the forum, CPU usage goes to 100%, and often the reply shrinks horizontally to a pretty thin line. Very weird.

Example: While mousing over Ryat's reply, the following happens on my reply:

Quite unusual. Once the mouse leaves the area, it goes back to normal. The compressed reply is always the one right below the reply where the mouse is. So if the mouse is over the very last reply nothing happens.

If anyone else is using Chrome, could you confirm if you are experiencing either of these too, or if it's just me?

I'm using chrome and I'm fine.

Hmm. Have an updated version, disabled all my extensions, but the problems are still there.

Well, in these case, Wikipedia have similar value that these of Microsoft :

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/system-requirements

As for the physical memory limit and processor limit, look at :

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

Interesting to see at the same link that only desktop 32 bit OS are limited to 4gb or less... non desktop 32 bit version can reach a max of 64 gb...

As your 800 mb win7 x64, it is like my 300 mb xp pro x64... we both know our system and how to tune it... hey, i have directx 10 on XP , what was say to not be possible by microsoft... Problem is that the usual JoeUser don't know enough about computer and his not able to tune it...

in fact, with XP, the basic configuration in case of 4 gb is 2 gb application and 2 gb OS... same if the OS don't use the 2gb, it is reserved... at the previous link, down the page, click the "4-Gigabyte tuning" link and it explain how to increase the memory who can be used for application from 2gb to 3gb... How much from the Joeuser know about it?

Pretty sure that win7 x64 is great in some way... but putting a F1 driver ( win7 ) in a FordT ( computer with only 4gb ram or less ) don't make the car ride over 250 km/h !!!

There is also the concept that such memory requirements is usually for when the application is running at maximum. I have a gadget that allows me to evaluate my memory and CPU usage. At start up or some other fancy Windows application I hit 2 gigs. But when it settles down to idle, 1 to 1.2 gigs on mine and other machines I work on seems to be the norm. And usually when running a different application Windows behaves and stays in idle.

Win7 64x is basically WinXP with Vista styling and a few things that were done correctly on Vista with all its garbage removed.

It seems to happen in various browsers. My android phone and firefox install does the same thing as that pic above. It works ok in Chrome and IE 8 on my machine.

I'm also unable to post karma in anything but Chrome, except it looks like this  ;P

It slow for me via IE8 and I get the same thing Wraith is posting via IE8 and Firefox.

Likewise, except there was also one point where everything on the screen shifted all the way over to the left and the Sins background didn't show up, but that was 2-3 days ago and it hasn't happened since.

Also, I've noticed no change in my speed, I just get the wierd shifting when I mouse over a post above another.  I use Windows 7 and I have IE8.  Just thought I'd mention it.

I can't even bring up a Karma window right now for some reason...  =\

I also am having issues with the karma window in firefox 6.01.

Well, when you look at the page source, it seem that almost all problem, like the "karma" thing is related to javascript code...

There can be several reason why javascript don't work perfectly :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Javascript#Compatibility_considerations

Now, a brower is not the other... the DOM interface is different for each engine... in fact, no browser meet fully all the core fundamental :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_layout_engines_(Document_Object_Model)#Core_.28Fundamental.29

Presto is from Opera, Gecko from Firefox, Trident for MSI, WebKit for Google Chrome...

Will be more easy for the web dev to have all engine who fully implement the W3C standardization... So, if you have problem with the forum, don't complain here ( unless you can reproduce the problem with any browser )... complain to the dev who have create your browser...

So, if you have problem with the forum, don't complain here
End of Thoumsin's quote

I don't think anyone is complaining as in demanding Bara get's it fixed right away, but to say don't bring it up here is stupid in my opinion.  Someone bringing it up let's others know about a problem.  I didn't know it wasn't working for me until after I read it and tried.  Now I know I have a problem and am interested in a solution or work around.  Others have confirmed issues because of the original comment about it, and you've provided reasons for it happening.  None of which would have happened if someone didn't 'complain' about it here.

Quoting Thoumsin, reply 45

End of Thoumsin's quote

Not to nitpick, but I only run one browser.  Pale moon.  I'm not downloading opera or chrome or bothering to go through the slew of updates to bring IE up to speed just to test a little forum issue to see if it's cross platform or just mine.  Nor would I expect or demand anyone else maintain 4 web browsers just to check to see if an issue affects one or two or all of them.  It can be done simply by coming onto the forum and saying, I have this browser and this is not working.  Basically complaining about it, and seeing who else has the problem.  If it's only those of us with firefox browsers or if someone running IE says theirs doesn't work either, or someone running opera... I get the same results , the same knowledge, without the trouble of doing all of the leg work.  Add in to that the very real possibility that someone has already found a solution to it, but assumes they were the only one with the issue and won't volunteer the info just because.  Also the possibility that Bara or someone else may not know the problem even exists because no one has said anything, but does know a way to work around it to implement server side rather then making all of us deal with it client side and will do exactly that in the next update.  Also something to consider, it worked before.  Knowing that, I would tend to believe it's not necessarily the browser, but rather the way the forum works.

Quoting Thoumsin, reply 45
complain to the dev who have create your browser...
End of Thoumsin's quote

I'm just one of the masses who uses the browser I use, my complaint to them about something not working right here in this forum isn't worth the electricity used to transmit said complaint.  Not unless I rally the troops and get a few thousand support tickets filed.

At any rate, the best place to complain about a forum issue is at the forum where the issue is happening, and no one should ever be told to not complain.  Bitching and whining about something, absolutely, I've got your back on that one, that person just needs to chill the hell out and settle down, but a simple complaint...  Come on...

stant, thank you for the support, and yes I have exactly the same potential here as with firefox developers( ie NONE), and as I only use firefox on this set of sites as each browser that is installed is used ONLY for one type of task(firefox is my gaming browser, opera is my daily downloads browser, chrome is my entertainment browser, dragon is my casual(default) browser, and interterd exploder is ONLY for windows update site and nowhere else permitted) and I do not like to use a browser for different things as they keep forgetting what I want them to goto, and I then have to re-setup all the pages for the browser, and with each of the specialised browsers having between 15 and fifty tabs each, the re-setting up is very frustrating and irritating.

Wow, that's a lot of tabs, anyway, it's the forum, Chrome and Safari show the same problem. Personally, I use either Chrome and Safari, however, the last update for Safari has a weird add on that was not there before, it comes up webkit2webprocess.exe something another and uses the hell of my 2 gig memory on my netbook. So I've been using Chrome exclusively...

The divide created in the Vasari Empire is less pronounced, but just as severe to their people. With the Vasari now practically frantic to move on to new space, the loyalist faction abandons cooperation and decides to take the resources they need by any means necessary. Having accepted the need to work together, the rebel faction feels that their best chance for survival is to work with the other races and bring them along to flee the approaching enemy.

Pale moon is firefox without the cross OS stuff built in so that it's optimized to run with windows much better.  Also has had a 64bit version out for a long time.
