Frogboy - Would you take a moment and read this?

Frogboy,

I was reading through an old thread today about the german translation for Demigod.  Way back in April of 2009, a subset of the demigod community was working hard on creating localized versions of Demigod. In that thread (http://forums.impulsedriven.com/345573), you said this:

Tell you what, I'll be sure to give some free copies of Elemental (our next game) to people who help us and the community on this kind of thing.
End of quote

That got me to thinking about all the hard work ptarth puts into coding bugfixes (the uberfix mod) along with a few of his cohorts (Exxcentric, Peppe).  Recently, another fellow has returned that gave us www.demigoddb.com which was and is now a great resource again (UhelligGudn).  UhelligGudn is also helping out on some mods as well.  All of these folks have donated MANY hours of their time towards making Demigod a better game.

You were clearly willing to give a nod to people that were helping make Demigod better back then and I wasn't sure if the offer might still be on the table?  I know ptarth hardly even plays the game anymore, yet he still works on bugfixes for us.  Any chance something could be done as a thank you for those folks? None of these folks have asked for anything, but I felt like I should put this out there.  I appreciate your consideration.

Thanks, Froggy.  And thanks to everyone that's worked on making Demigod a better game!

If any of you want to say thanks to our modders, please do so here.

Sigh - I bought Elemental in beta.  I support SD... I also support the community.  I support people that have spent many hours to make the game better.  I don't want anything.  Just felt like this would be a good chance to thank the modders who do quite a bit for few nothing in return.  Great job, though, Heros.   :typo:   Well played, sir.  I'll delete your brilliant commentary as well.

... I'd like to thank ptarth especially - he hardly plays the game but spent so much of his personal time reviewing the code and coming up with fixes.  I'm personally really grateful that he's taken the time and is even still working on fixes.  Today alone he solved the "forces of light" desync bug that no one at GPG was able to crack even though it was looked at and worked on (and I didn't believe it existed for that matter :))

I also have purchased Elemental. Me getting it would be me giving it to my roomate which would then coerce my two coworkers (who are heavy Civ-fanatics) to also purchase it because we will have LANs and if they don't have the game they will always lose, which encourages us to have larger LANs and all of a sudden I made Stardock 6 copies worth of sales ^^;

Also, the more and more I watch pacov talk, I think he has secret moderator privileges like a 4chan janitor. hmmm....

This post implies,

"GIVE ME (also these guys) FREE COPY OF ELEMENTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

-SAYS "PACOV"-

End of Heros_Master's quote

err... at no point is he asking or implying that he should receive a free copy.

But hey, rain on his parade of being polite; go for it man, be that jerk, you can do it!

I do feel that UhelligGudn, Pt, and so on really do deserve something for their effort. They really went above and beyond and have really helped keep the community alive.

When I first read this thread I was like "Why did they mention me, I haven't done anything" then I realised you were talking about DemigodDB more than Uberfix and it made more sense.

I will admit however that I hardly did DemigodDB for altruistic reasons, I hardly even play Demigod when I'm not doing so just to find bugs or get stats to update DemigodDB, in fact, in the last year I've played a whole, one game online. I made DemigodDB originally to settle a now forgotten dispute over item stacks, and recently rewrote it just to see how much I had improved over the last year in terms of programming ability. I am very glad that people find the site useful and that the time that went into the site does not go unused by others.

I feel however that people such as Ptarth and Hedgie deserve far more credit than I do. They for one have mostly been here consistently (I vanished for almost an entire year) and the work involved in UberFix is significantly higher than any I ever put into DemigodDB. If anything I think this thread is a heartwarming nudge to those who have helped the community thus far. All too often I see people complaining in the UberFix thread or such about certain changes, yet very rarely does enough thanks get rained upon the great work these people are doing.

Sorry, UhelligGudn, you have done the community the most good. I don't know a single Demigod player that hasn't used your website. You definitely should get one.
