How do you keep the fun up in SOASE?

Its a fun game, but the AI isnt really too smart, i held off a TEC attack (by unfair AI) with 4 Radiance Capital ships that were supported by 3 repair platforms and 3 Antimatter regenerators.

Also, im getting kinda bored of the game just after a week, how do i keep the fun up?

Playing bigger maps aint the solution, game tends to lag up like mad.

With a 3-4 player map, i get to send fleets.

Online is more fun in my opinion.  4 radiance caps alone even with repairs will get you slaughtered online.  The AI is stupid and predictable.  People are generally more of a challenge.

Are you paying Vanilla Sins, Entrenchment, or Diplomacy?

Is the problem that you're just getting bored with the game itself, which is possible, or is it that the AI is no longer a challenge?  If the AI is no longer a challenge then it might be time to move on to online multiplayer where you will discover that the strategy and tactics of human opponents are far, far more challenging than anything the AI could ever throw at you.  Don't click the <Multiplayer> button which is for LAN games.  Instead click the <Ironclad Online> button which is for online multiplayer.  You'll need to register an account, make a player name (Add Player), and then select that player name (Use Player).  Also, team games of 5 humans v. 5 humans are much more fun and interesting than playing it in single player, anyway.  You get a team dynamic to deal with that isn't present in single player.

Agreed, I would have certainly gotten tired of playing this game a year ago if it weren't for the Online experience. 10x more challenging and 10x more fun.

for the offline player, there are also the achievements in game.  lan games are good good fun times.

Just to add to that, there are also MODS (though they might not work in Diplomacy yet) and custom, Galaxy-Forge-made maps where map-makers pinpointed the location of indivdual planets.  For example, there is a Star Trek mod, a Star Wars mod, and an interesting mod called Distant Stars.

I go with the insane 9 ai vs. me and going insane fleeting, watching fleets die is kinda fun, but I know and sadistic

The achievements are mostly time consuming, not difficult.  I mean, really, "military researcher"?  Win a rush game on a map like point blank, then sit around the homeworld without bombarding while you slowly grab every technology.  It's not a challenge, it's just silly.

LAN games can be fun, provided you have friends who are into the game.
