Is there a way to fix starting positions? And other HUGE problems

I have heard that this has gone on for a LONG time.

Now, i just got Sins of a Solar Empire recently and I LOVE it.

I have got all expansions pack and im updated up to 1.19, 1.05 for trench and 1.0 for diplo

But theres two to three HUGE stupid things that is really like just glaringly stupid and the developers are proving themselves to be plain air heads by not fixing them.

HUGE problem 1 - The Starting Locations.

One thing i love to do is place like 4 systems.

System 1 - Me and an Ally

System 2 - A faction of 4 with 3 being Vicious/Cruel CPUs

System 3 - A Faction of 3 with 3 of em being Vicious Cruel

System 4 - A free battle ground with about 6-7 planets and mining asteriods with pirates.

What I get: My Ally spawning smack in the middle of a star system surrounded by 3 vicious CPUs. And this happens over and over again.

What Devs might say: You gotta love the BRAND NEW experiences you get when you play the maps!

What I say: Of course, i get 10 #%@#$ experiences within 5minutes from restarting the map over and over again.

Besides, the randomized starting locations aren't even smart to begin with, you end up starting star systems away from your allies. And thats bad for people like me who play 2v4v4

HUGE problem no.2 - Including developer tools that are buggy and are without explanation.

Now i can safely claim that i am an average or above average modder myself. Apart from meshes, i find myself capable of modding .ini files and following instructions, using Hex editor and Rubyscript fixes. (Modded Mass Effect 2 before, difficult nut that one).

What I get: Galaxy Forge makes maps that can't be seen and destroys the map in the process too.

Script converters that cannot convert Bin files to Text, or instructions are not present.

MAJOR problem no.3 - The WTFOMFGBBQ Pirate attacks.   (Im trying to fix this by modding the pirate upgrade rates)

A few hours into the game, depending on speed (but 10-15hours on 1x speed) pirates send major fleet load of ships with 5x the firepower of my HEavy cruisers. Even when passing through a system, they can damage a fully upgraded TEC starbase till its half destroyed.

For those confused: In Diplomacy, Pirates upgrade periodically so that about 10hrs into the game, they have an average autocannon damage of 100+ with 4k Hull Hp.

A TEC Kodiak has 1.5k hull, 1k shields and 28 autocannon damage.

Gameplay transforms from: Send fleets to pummel your enemies  --->   Pirate Bidding Wars!

What developers might say: (From what i heard, pirates from the last games before diplomacy were just cannon fodder) So we made them grow more powerful so that they are a challenge!

Yeah well, they won the game by killing off all 9 players. Well done, THEY WERE A FRIGGING CHALLENGE!!!

That said, anyone knows how to fix starting positions?

Random maps have randomized starting positions.  That's how they work, and if you want preset start locations you'll need to use a non-random map that supports it.  Indexed start locations are easy to do in galaxyforge.

Galaxy Forge makes maps that can't be seen and destroys the map in the process too.

Took me a while to get what you're saying here.

First of all, do not overwrite anything in the program files directory.  Use your appdata directory for any user-created mods or maps.  Once a mod is installed, there's no file swapping or anything, just click a button in-game to enable or disable mods you have installed.

Second of all, there are actually two types of galaxy files:  preset galaxies and random templates.  Galaxyforge ony works with presets, and will not handle the random templates.  The "large multi-system random map" is a template, and you cannot modify it with galaxyforge.  Templates don't support indexed start locations, so you cannot ensure team proximity.

Darvin, if this works, you'd be my life saver.

So i just put my Galaxy Forged maps into my appData directory? And how does that solve the Non-Randomized starting positions?

PROBLEMS SOLVED.

To play Galaxy Forged Maps - Put them into Galaxy Forge folders, they appear NO WHERE else.

To reduce pirates - Im setting their upgrade rates to very low, hope this helps!

To use developer uploaded tools - TRIAL AND ERROR AND GOOGLING - EXTENSIVE GOOGLING!

O and i made a way to spawn within a group of planets in a Team system too.
