Face it: Stat Overlays are Awesome

I am lazy.

I was just reading one of the few positive threads about how awesome replays are and wanted to point out that Stat Overlays, which are a non-trivial addition to the game, are pretty darn awesome, and have made the game a lot more fun to play. Let us give propers where they are due, and be thankful at least for these things.

The level of fairness has been increasing a lot, losses are less frustrating because you can see that the enemy team did not win by stacking teams, and we now have much less to talk about unfairness. They are a strong addition to the lobby, and a strong addition to the game.

hehe "I am lazy."

Agreed.  Glad SD put the overlay out as a beta.  Hoping we see the official version this week so everyone gets in on it.

I've had a couple of games now using the overlay.

It's wicked. I saw one where there was a hint of premade-ness about it, so I left, but the other two I was able to see the win/loss ratio, and since they were +/-4 pts from me, we played. Both games had the advantage shift between the teams at least one time. Both games were hard, but not impossible.

It's an extremely good addition. The games have a higher degree of awesome now. People complain less too.

Now if only we can fix those desyncs...

It doesnt show your rank. And no one really cares about rank. Having a high rank means nothing.

It doesnt show your rank. And no one really cares about rank. Having a high rank means nothing.

Except that you can put it on your resume to impress prospective employers; you can whip out screenshots of your rank on dates; your biographer can spend a whole chapter on it and how you obtained it; when the paparazzi show up at your door that's all they're interested in so you better be ready to show it.

Finally, when you are old and graying and sitting around at family gatherings your grandchildren hold you in a greater state of awe and they can go back to school the next day and share with all their friends that THEIR grandfather got to rank 50 in Demigod back when he was younger.

So, really a high rank is one of the most prized possessions of not only the gaming community but is also a high water mark in anyone's life.

I haven't had time to check out the overlay out of beta (maybe this Saturday? PSATS :( ), but I have to say the overlays was a nothing less than a (demi)god-send when I used them.
