Thousands of Players and No One To Play With

Thousands of Players and No One To Play With

There are 200,000 copies sold just in the US alone, so why can i only see lik 110 people online at any given time? is it becuase no one plays online? Is this game meant to be a pure LAN based game not an online one? Is the online aspect still being developed? Whats going on people?!?!?

You know what?  I don't mind the small community.  Sure, you sometimes have to wait a while for games to fill up, but on the flip side you actually get to know a lot of the people who play online, and build a reputation yourself.

Now, I will totally agree with the balance statement and the issue of beginners getting into multiplayer.  I've long since learned that there are two ways to pick up a multiplayer RTS game: learn the hard way and take your beatings in stride, or spend many hours scouring forums for the sage advice of experienced players.  I personally make the effort to be patient with newbies, but it's easy for them to be discouraged.

As for balance, all games have their balance issues, and to be honest it's a lot harder than it looks to get things just right.

There's always the community balance mod Raging Amish has put together. I think that works well. If everyone can agree to stop bitching about balance then we might get more players online.

On the other hand, I like the small community in Dystopia (another game I play regularly), there are less than 500 regular players, or so I reckon and I only see the ones who visit the European servers). I keep bumping into players I know and enjoy playing with and I like to think that others remember who I am.

So I'm ok with a small community

My nickname is test3CPOTEMP or something like that. I love this game and i will stay regardless of bugs/imbas. I'm running on v1.17 will get entrenchment soon.

Quiche, aren't you the guy who liked to build nothing but Cobalts even when your teammates were screaming at you to try building some LRMs?  I remember a game once where you had a fleet of nothing but 64 cobalts and a capital ship and your allies were all pleading with you to build something else.  It was a 4v4 and we won the game, somehow, but I don't think you and your mighty cobalt fleet had much to do with the win.

I really had some deja'vu reading this thread. You are all crying about the same thing over and over. NOTHING is ever going to be perfect. NOTHING is ever just the way that EVERYONE thinks it should be. We understand that the MP isn't up to par but instead of wasting time sitting here crying about it... Did you ever think there was something YOU could do about it? ICO is only ONE option. Try creating a sanctioned Sins community with scheduled games or tournaments. Set up teams that like to play mods... Oh wait I already did that or something similar. You just can't sit around and wait for everything to be handed to you.

Make a community that bans LRM and Illum Spamming as bad Sportsmanship.

I used to play online, but once I started getting booted/completely obliterated by the Sins online multiplayer elite, and couldn't find a single place where there wasn't some sort of stupid argument going on, I went back to single player.

You need to learn to be amused by that sort of behavior.  Online multiplayer gaming and all of the shit talking should always make you laugh.
